-Are you done resisting yet?" Asked the old lance with a bored, hoarse tone as he let out a large cloud of smoke from his mouth.
Glaring from either side once again I knew that I was completely surrounded with squadrons of soldiers on either side, a building packed with archers at my back, and in front the back of Helstea's auction house.
-This seems rather overkill." I commented with a half-smile as I focused back on him, hoping he would answer.
Letting out a sharp sigh as he threw whatever he was smoking on the ground before stepping on it, the man took the bait.
-This is the bare minimum to assure the capture of a target." He answered as he replaced his feet to take a slightly curved stance, almost putting his hands in his white jacked. It was like he couldn't be bothered to stay serious. "Your tactics might have worked against some puny slave traders who form half of a plan, but now you're out of the waters, playing a game you don't know the limits to." He added, scolded almost as I heard a hint of disappointment in his voice.
-I do believe that I know yours, mister white core mage." I let out with a controlled smirk, trying to stay composed and convince him that I still had some tricks under my sleeve.
Freezing for half a second, the man's glare changed from boredom to confusion as his eyes locked on to mine with doubt and bewilderment. Meeting his eyes back with confidence and determination, I communicated all of my resolve, my hope and my unyielding will to do what is right.
Catching a hint of a smile, the man started to slowly walk toward me with his hands in his pocket as the light of the sun reflected on his jet white uniform making it almost blinding.
-I guess that Blaine made the right choice when he told me to find a way to get rid of you." He commented aloud as I reflected on my current situation.
To say that the current stats of things was bad would be a severe understatement.
Not only had my attempt at stalling him out to let me refill my mana core not worked, I was in the middle of a human city without any back up, itself on a floating island.
Not only had my dramatic introduction and declaration to all of Sapin failed, my allies being flung like they were grains of sand in a hurricane and my escape routes cut off. But I still hadn't accomplished anything.
-I'll give you a simple choice, little one." He said as I was taken aback by his choice of words and focused back on him as he pulled yet another weapon from his dimensional ring. "Either you give up now, and I make this quick and painless, or you keep fighting till the end." He explained as he raised his long sword to me while finally taking a proper fighting stance.
I couldn't die here. I still had to save so many people, to unite the continent, to stop the Vritra, to have my date with Arthur! I couldn't give up.
Not only would I fail all of them, if they were to uncover my identity it might cause another war between human and Elven which was rally unprompted for.
-So?" He pressed with a sharp glare staring straight at my soul.
-I shouldn't have to answer." I retorted as I raised my sword, clenching my hands against the handle even harder.
-Then so be it." He answered with a serious voice and a respectful after-tone as he prepared to charge at me.
Anxiously glazing either way again I could only see a series of dead ends and certain death form all four cardinal directions. Even the ground felt like it was trapping me here while I saw my opponent start to alleviate above the pavement, freed from the shackles of gravity.
