-WELCOMING UNITY, ACTING AS THE LEGAL REPRESENTANT OF THE BRIBE AND THE BRIBE: HANNADREDA!" Called out the announcer as I worriedly glanced at Tessia who was sitting next to Arthur, hoping her plan would work as she joined her hands together.
Focusing back on the main entrance, from which Hanna would be stepping out, I would be lying off I didn't admit that I was probably the most stressed I had ever been. My heart was bagging against my chest at an astonishing rate, cold sweat poured down my forehead, my throat felt dry and soar, and despite standing perfectly still, I felt like my legs were standing on a trembling platform.
I wasn't sure which would kill me first, but it sure felt like my heart would burst out of my chest, or that I would drown in my own sweat, or that I would die of dehydration, or that the ground would give out under me before Hanna would even reach the red carpet. As the gruelingly long second continued to trickle past at an agonizingly slow pace, I started doubting myself, wondering if I really was good enough to be with her, only to get immediately brought back to reality when I saw two familiar figures stepping out of the main door.
On the right was Unity with her usual night sky like skin and clothing(?), the lack of contrast between the two always made it hard to distinguish where one started and the other ended, although I felt like the stars and other luminous points on her body were following some sort of pattern. Either way, it sounded like I was worrying for nothing, since her movements looked smooth and appearance perfectly normal, no one would guess that this Unity was a golem controlled by Tessia.
Feeling a bit more relaxed after seeing that everything was going well, I switched my focus to the left, only to be stunned in place by what I was seeing.
Slowly walking toward me, with an indescribable air of dignity in each of her steps, unshakable resolve in her eyes, a stunning black dress with dozens of shinning, white gems and crystals that was both simple and incredible complex in design as it felt like I could get lost looking at every fold.
She was beyond beautiful, mesmerizing, incredible. She was the only thing I could pay attention to, like all of my other thoughts and worries disappeared when my eyes landed on her, time itself seemed to have put on hold as I tried to take in every detail of her appearance.
Watching her glance around the crowd, smile at a few of our friends from Xyrus academy and a few of hers from Unity, I wondered what she might be thinking at this very instant? Was she also stressed? Was she excited? Was she happy with the way this had all set up? Did she have any regrets? Did she have any doubts?
I didn't know. I couldn't know, but it didn't matter, because I trusted, not just her, but our friends and family, to have done their best for and hoped the best would come out of this wedding. "Even I only had my brother, and she technically didn't have any family." I conceded to myself, trying to argue that my statement was invalid, and I should rephrase it.
After a few more steps and a large, proud smile, Hanna looked my way, causing our eyes to meet. Although a part of me wanted to instinctively look away as I could already feel my cheeks start to blush, I restrained myself from doing so. I didn't want to look away from her. I didn't want to be ashamed of myself every time I looked at someone else, I wanted to be strong, for her.
Looking deep in her pupils, and seeing her look back with just as much if not more intensity, I felt relieved, calmer almost like her eyes were telling me that everything was going to be fine, that she loved me.
It didn't take much longer for her to walk the rest of the way and, before I even knew it, she was standing about two meters in front of me. She was even more gorgeous from up close, and her eyes shinned almost as brightly as the jewels on her dress, so much so that I wanted to step toward her, to hug her, to tell her just how beautiful she was and how much I loved her, but was thankfully stopped from breaking the protocol by the beginning of a speech coming from the other side of the altar.
