Lilith and I carried box after box down the stairs of my apartment and into the truck. There weren't too many to begin with, but this was just the start of the moving process.
When we carried all my belongings out of my old apartment, we made a stop at my new place to drop them off. I'm thankful this place has an elevator because being on one of the highest floors would be hell.
"Aright, next stop! Furniture and appliances!" I said excitedly as we placed the final box in the living room of my apartment.
We drove to the Canadian Tire first, grabbing sets of pots and pans, utensils, spatulas, and spoons to cook with.
"Can you find the... um... plates, bowls, cups, and knives. While I go look for a vacuum, tire pump, and tools for building furniture later on? Please and thank youuu." I asked Lilith.
"Of course, I'm going to go get my own basket before I do, though." She said laughing.
God, her laugh... I loved it.
I watched her walk away before reminding myself not to get distracted and go search for the things I needed.
Most of my time was spent in the tools area. I settled on hand tools instead of power tools. With a hammer, all types of screw drivers, few wrench sizes, and torx keys. Along with many other tools.
With all the tools, I decided it would be best to buy a tool bag. I continued strolling through the shop, looking for Lilith down every aisle.
When she found me, she rolled the shopping cart up to me, and I saw a lot more than I asked. It made me laugh, though.
"I know, but I saw a few other things you might've wanted, so I grabbed them. You choose what you don't want and I'll put it back." She answered me without me asking what all of it was.
She had the things I asked for along with a strainer, microwave, blender, coffee maker, and cutting board.
She watched intently as I pushed away a few items that I don't think we needed. For example, the oven mitts, containers. Cat food? I looked at her strangely.
"Oh, that must have slipped in." She answered, nervously laughing, and so I put it to the side as well.
I made a mental note that she wanted a kitty.
As I went through a few more things, I planned asking her to move in with me. It had only been 4 almost 5 months, but I was planning to wait a little longer before asking her. Vivian was always welcome to move in as well, since my apartment had 3 rooms and soundproof walls. Hearing her scream about spiders was probably louder than the streets of Toronto.
Despite not having any furniture yet, we bought what we had and dropped it off at home before driving to the next place. Ikea.
We walked through the whole building 4 separate times, returning 4 times. Once for 2 queen bed frames and mattresses. Second time for a fridge. Third time for a stove. The last visit was for a coffee table and desk. Then, a pit stop at a furniture store for an already assembled couch.
It was nearing 8 when we got to my apartment. We were just about drained from our busy day, and I was ready to leave everything a mess and just cuddle up with Lilith in bed. As I lay on the couch, Lilith came over both hands and extended out to me for me to grab.
"Come on, we still have to build your bed." She said with that bright smile of hers as she held in a small chuckle.
"Alright, I'm up. Let's build this bed as quickly as possible." I answered while she pulled me up by my hands.
