Chapter twenty-four

Meanwhile, one of the boys dragged Kim into the forest so that she could make the call. They walked to an area where they had reception. Katie and Hailey, on the other hand, let her sit in the remote room.

"Everything okay with you?" the blonde wanted to know when she looked closely at her sister. "Yes...yes, I'm fine, it's just... I haven't had any good experiences with strange guys.... And kidnappings.....the last.... The last one tried to kill me......." she answered her stuttering and looked at Hailey sadly. Hailey had not noticed what had happened, so she now wanted to know a little more precisely what had happened, but only when Katie felt ready to tell her.

Katie took a deep breath. "I met someone and didn't think anything about it and went for a drink with him... he poured something into my drink.... And before I knew it... he had put me in... in his trunk... and when I woke up.... Were we already... far outside of.....of LA.....he had forced me to get into a barrel.....and buried me alive....alive...if Tim and the others wouldn't have been......if I wouldn't have been here now....." Katie explained to her and Hailey wanted to hug her sister with compassionately, but that was hardly possible. "But now I'm fine... I'm at home... Even if I don't always... feel very safe... that's why I also accepted the offer from Voight and my sergeant," she said even before the two tried to somehow loosen their cable ties. However, they were disturbed in front of the man who had stayed. He brought the two each a glass of water.

"Hey, wait, could you make my cable ties new? They are so tight that I can hardly feel my hands anymore." Katie asked him now and overcame her fear to a small extent. Hailey now knew about it and could intervene if necessary if it became too much for her own. A little skeptical, he approached her and put the bag next to her before working on the cable ties.

"My name is Luna," Katie began and saw that he was wearing a wedding ring on his finger. "If you don't mind me asking. How will they explain this to her wife?" She said then. "My wife?" He asked her and stopped in his movements and looked at her. "You're wearing a ring on your finger, so I guessed..."

"Yes, she doesn't need to know anything about it," he said briefly. "Yes, well... if you love her, maybe you should think about it a little better. Your friend goes out of joint and kills us, that's your life," she tried to argue. "You will never see your wife again. But when they go to the police, they get out of this matter. They tell them what's going on and have a good chance of getting away with it," she said gently and hoped to be able to persuade him with it.

"Do you honestly think I'm so stupid?" He asked, but Katie quickly shook her head." No, I think you're smart. And I think you love your wife. If they go to the police and tell them what's going on, there is a chance that they will get away without any consequences. But if that goes wrong, you look at your life in prison. And for what?" She asked, everything went different than she wanted because he pressed a knife to her neck.

"Okay, okay. Slow down." Hailey now meddled and tried to calm her situation. She was also surprised because Katie's method seemed to work until then. They thought he would soften and make it easier for them, not do the opposite. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry," Katie quickly apologized and quickly pulled her head back a bit so that the knife didn't pierce her skin. "I was just trying to help."

The man's breath trembled just like his hand as he slowly pulled the knife away from his neck, her eyes never left his.

"Can you please just make my cable ties new?" Katie asked and Hailey looked at her in amazement, because she thought the thing with the cable ties was just a trick to bring him close to her and get into his head, she didn't think she meant this part seriously.

As soon as he had cut her off, she hit him with one punch directly on the nose. So she took the opportunity to step his feet from behind to let him fall backwards. His body hit the ground with a grunt, when Hailey now pulled with force on her cable ties, hoping to get her hands free to help her sister. Katie kicked her feet against the bar and broke the cable ties through which they were still holding together on a band. She quickly stood up at the same time as the man. He grabbed her and pushed her back until her back hit the metal shelf behind. A grunt slipped past her lips when the wind was briefly beaten out of her. Somehow she managed to land a blow in his stomach and face and he stumbled back a whole bit. So this time he got a blow which landed Katie in the face and she herself was a bit disoriented and so she didn't see that wooden board which was coming towards her. She screamed painfully when the nail that protruded from the board pierced her skin but was also immediately pulled out again.

He took advantage of her moment of weakness to push her back to the pole on her back. "You stupid bitch. Do you think you can play with me?" He said and landed another blow on her nose, so that the blood was already running out.

When Kim and Logan, as the others could find out in the meantime, entered the room again, their eyes also fell immediately on Katie, the blood-filled face lying on the floor. She didn't know the woman as well as Hailey, but she didn't deserve that.

Hailey was angry, very angry. You could practically already see the steam that came out of their ears with a single look at the men. "If you try something like this again, a bullet will land in your head." he threatened Katie and then stepped out of the room.

"Welcome back." Katie greeted Kim when she woke up again. The wound on her hip was only a few millimeters deep, but still painful. "What happened?" Kim wanted to know worried and looked at one of the two questioningly, hoping one of the two would tell her what had happened. "I thought the plan would have been to wait until the night."

"She adjusted the right moment," Hailey defended her sister, "It just didn't go as hoped." "He should be lying on the floor, not me," Katie said and twisted her face when she moved wrong.

"So the call worked as planned. They are currently setting up a meeting. So we are back in the plan. We are stuck and waiting for the team to show up here." Kim tried to reassure the two and hoped that Katie would last for so long. "That's good," Katie said exhausted and leaned her head on the floor. The others let her do it, but kept a close eye on her.
