Chapter 30 - Marriage

The Wedding Day :

Finally the most awaited day is here. Lisa is helping Elliot to get ready and on the other side David and Atharv are already at the gate to welcome the guests. Both of them are wearing blue tuxedo. Maya is in her Marathi look today. She is wearing a red and golden colour saree with beautiful gajra (a flower garland) on her hair. The whole place has blossomed with lights and the soulful music is like a cherry on top. There are varieties of food at the stalls. And the most attractive part is the mandap. It is decorated with white flowers with pink curtains. The priest is already there and doing his job.

"Is Elliot ready or not?" Maya enters the room. "Yes aunty, he is ready." Lisa replies. She is wearing a sky blue colour gown. Maya looks at Elliot. He is wearing the pink sherwani."Something is missing here." she says. "What?" Elliot quickly looks at the mirror. Maya stands in front of him and takes out the Mundavalya (it is a forehead ornament). "Here you go." she makes Elliot wear the ornament. "Now it's perfect." she says. Elliot smiles. "Alright, both of you stay here and come when I say." Maya leaves the room. Elliot and Lisa stands next to the window and looks down.

All the guests have started arriving. David and Atharv are welcoming them. The President and his family enters next and Maya greets them wholeheartedly. Within no time the whole place gets filled with people. "It's time for the wedding, now please bring both of them." the priest says. Maya nods and calls Lisa. A few seconds later, Elliot comes out of the bungalow and stands at the right side of the mandap. The photographer clicks his picture."Where is Marco?" Maya asks. "I don't know aunty, I haven't seen him yet." David replies. "What? What do you mean by that? Where did he go now?" Maya panics. She enters inside the bungalow and searches for him. But Marco is nowhere. She tries to call him but he is not picking up.

"What's happening? Is everything alright?" Elliot whispers. "I don't know El, I guess Marco is missing." Lisa replies. Elliot heart drops. "What!" he mumbles. Maya comes out and rushes towards David. "Today is his wedding and how can he disappear like this? Even his sherwani is not here." she says. The music stops and everyone looks so worried. "Please tell me he is fine." Elliot whispers. "Don't worry El, everything is fine." Lisa comforts him. "What kind of work does he remember to do on his wedding day?" Maya shouts in anger. "Calm down Maya, he will come soon." the president's wife says. Maya sighs and sits on a chair. Elliot notices Sam who is standing at a corner and kind of smiling. "Please Marco, tell me you're okay." Elliot mumbles. Everyone looks at each other with tensed eyes. "अरे देवा, तू कुठे आहेस मार्को? (Oh God, where are you Marco)" Maya shouts in anger.

Suddenly the sound of a helicopter is heard in the sky. Everyone looks up and wonders who it could be. Elliot clearly remembers this chopper. He releases a breath of relief. "Start the music, the groom has arrived!" Atharv says. The chopper lands and Marco gets down from it. Everyone cheers for him and starts clapping. Marco is wearing the same pink sherwani and Mundavalya on his forehead."Today you gave us a heart attack! Who enters like this?" Maya scolds him."Your son is a unique person, so his entry should be unique right?" Marco replies."Now go fast." Maya pats his shoulder.

Marco slowly slowly walks towards Elliot, who is waiting for him so long. "See, your husband is here finally." Lisa teases him. Marco holds his ears and stands in front of Elliot. "I'm sorry if I scared you today." he says. Elliot shakes his head."You are a mad Marco!" he says back. They laughs and hugs each other. Everyone stands near the them in a circle. The priest starts the mantra. Maya and Lisa gives them the garlands and steps back. "Are you ready hubby?" Marco smirks. They comes closer. Maya blows the shankh (conch) as they exchange their garlands. Flowers start showering on them from the choppers. The guests claps and takes their pictures. Marco holds Elliot's hands and sits on the mandap. The priest starts chanting mantras.

Sam feels so upset and leaves the place immediately. The priest gives them two turmeric threads. They tie the threads on each other's wrist as per the guidance. Next the priest gives Marco the mangalsutra (a necklace). And he puts it on Elliot's neck. "Now you are mine for lifetime." he whispers. Elliot looks at him and blushes. "It's time for the wedding vows please someone tie their scarfs." the priest says. Lisa comes and ties it. Marco and Elliot stands up. "But who will go ahead and who will go behind?" Atharv asks. Marco smiles and stands behind Elliot. "After my mother, if anyone has shown me the right path, it is Elliot. That's why, I will go behind him." he replies. Maya gets emotional seeing this lovely gesture by his son. Elliot looks at him with teary eyes. "And anyway, if the hubby is so gorgeous then why be ashamed of following his instructions?" Marco winks. Everyone laughs.

The priest starts the mantra as they starts encircling around the fire. Everyone showers the flowers on them. The photographers clicks their pictures and makes their videos. They stops after the seventh round. "Now for seven births I became yours and you became mine." Marco says. Elliot smiles brightly. Maya gives them the wedding rings. They take the rings and put them on each other's fingers. "Not just for seven births, now I have become only yours for many births." Elliot says. Marco hugs him tightly. "The marriage is completed. Now both of you belong to each other forever." the priest says and gives his blessings to the newly married couple. The firecrackers start bursting in the sky.

Marco and Elliot approach Maya and take her blessings. Maya immediately hugs them. "Now my heart got peace." she says. They break the hug and Maya looks at Elliot."Elliot, listen to me carefully, from now on Marco's responsibility is yours. So, if he ever disturbs you without any reason, just slap him without thinking twice." she says. Everyone laughs including Marco. Atharv comes and hugs them tightly. "Congratulations guys, I'm so happy for you." he says. "And we are blessed to have a little brother like you." Marco says back. David and Lisa also congratulate them. The President and his family meet them and wish them well.

Finally after meeting with thousand of people Marco and Elliot gets a chance to talk to each other. "You are looking so breathtaking in this attire." Marco says while eating."You too husband." Elliot says back. Marco kisses his hand and looks at him. "Tell me honestly, do you actually thought that I left you?" he asks. "That's impossible and I know that very well Mr. But yeah I thought something happened to you." Elliot replies. Marco kisses his cheeks. "Don't worry, your husband is not a simple guy." he says. "Obviously. He is the most unpredictable man in the world." Elliot says back. Marco laughs. They finish their dinner while flirting with each other.

After an hour, all the guests leaves the venue. And the family members sits in a room to have some quality time. Marco and Elliot sits next to each other and laughs at every joke of David and Lisa. "Oh by the way, the most important question. With which flower should I decorate your room? Today is your first night, isn't it?" Atharv teases. Elliot feels shy and looks away. "Well, please don't decorate anything." Marco says. "Why? Because later it will be ruined by you?" David teases. "Shut up man! It's because we are leaving for our honeymoon." Marco says. "Oh really? Where are you guys going by the way?" Maya asks. "Greece." Marco replies. "Wow! So when are you guys going there?" Lisa asks. "Right now." Marco holds Elliot's hand and walks towards the door. "Enjoy buddy, and please don't break anything there!" David again teases. "Shut up!!!!" Marco shouts.

They come out of the bungalow and get up in their private helicopter. The pilot starts the chopper. "When did you plan all this?" Elliot asks. "Just after our engagement." Marco replies. Elliot smiles and rests his head on his shoulder. After an hour they fall asleep.
