Chapter 4 : Realization

At Marco's House :

Marco checks his phone again and again but there's no response from Elliot's side. He even texts Lisa but she is also not responding. This is killing him from inside. He then checks the time and its midnight already. He smiles and walks towards his mom's room.

" Happy Birthday ma" he wishes and hugs her. " Thank you sweetheart" she replies and gives a kiss on his cheek. She is in her night suit and still looks so beautiful. She has long black hair and has dimples. She is calm by nature and always has a beautiful smile on her face.

" Here you go. " Marco gifts a saree to her. " I know I'm so bad at choosing colours but um.. I hope you like this red and black combination" he adds. She smiles. " This is so beautiful honey, thank you " she replies. " So, um.. are you gonna wear this today? " he asks. " Obviously, you know sometimes I feel so lucky to have you as my son. I love you so much." she replies and hugs him. " I love you too ma" he hugs her back. " Now go and get some sleep okay. I know you have arranged a grand party tonight. " she says. " yeah (chuckles) I mean why not?" he replies and leaves the room.

It's 10am in the morning. Marco and David is checking the decorations. " Make sure everything is perfect. I don't want any kind of disturbance tonight" Marco says. "Don't worry dude, everything looks great." David replies. Marco again checks his phone but there's only birthday wishes for his mother and no text from Elliot.

David stares at him for a moment. " Bro, do you believe in love at first sight?" he asks. Marco laughs at his question. "There's no such things as love at first sight. I mean how can a person fell in love with someone they just met? Sorry dude but I don't believe in this! " he replies. "Then why the hell you are looking at Elliot's picture again and again?" David smirks.

Marco immediately switch off the screen and turns to another direction. David laughs seeing his best friend is blushing so hard. " This is nothing um.." Marco replies and walks towards his room. "Come on bro, just accept it." David says loudly so he can hear.

Marco sits on his bedside and covers his face with his palm. " Shit shit shit no..." he curses himself. He realises that David is right. HE IS IN LOVE WITH ELLIOT!!! His eyes are full of tears now. Tears of realization! Tears of love! He stands up and wipes his tears.
" No! I need to control myself. What if he..." he stops. He is afraid to accept anything. " Shitttt " he again curses himself and lies on his bed. After a few minutes he falls asleep.

At Evening:

The guests starts arriving now. Marco and David stand on the gate to welcome them. He is wearing white shirt, black jeans and blue blazer. David is also wearing the same. Marco is acting normal as if nothing happens to him but he is desperately waiting for Elliot to come.

They both get shock seeing a familiar person on the gate. " What the fuck he is doing here?" Marco reacts and starts sweating. " I don't know man, I didn't invite him" David says. " Neither I" Marco panics. He is Daniel. Marco's cousin.
" Oh hey there. Its good to see you again" he says. " I know what you are thinking don't worry, your dad invited me" he winks and enters the hall.

Marco sighs and about to enter but an another familiar voice comes from his behind. " Sorry for coming late. I hope the party is not over yet." Marco turns around and his jaw drops. ELLIOT AND LISA ARE HERE! " Oh my god!" Marco finally reacts. " I know I didn't respond to your text but yeah I'm here." Elliot says. Marco blinks, he couldn't believe that he is here. Right in front of him!
" Alright! um.. thanks for coming." he finally breaks the silence. Elliot smiles and enters the hall.

Marco introduces them to his mom. She also greets them with a smile. She is wearing the same saree that Marco gifted. No heavy make up and heavy jewellery. She is simple yet beautiful.

" Happy Birthday Maya" Robert (Marco's father) finally wishes her. " Thanks Mr. Fernandes!" she replies with a fake smile. He sighs and goes towards Daniel to greet him. Marco feels sad seeing his parents like this. Somewhere he blames himself for this mess.

Maya cuts the cake and gives the first bite to her son then Elliot, Lisa and David.
" Where's my turn auntie?" Daniel interrupts. Maya sighs and orders her maid to give it to him. Daniel feels insulted but still takes the plate. He gives a death stare to Marco and leaves. Elliot notice everything. He can see the tension on Marco's face.

" Let's go somewhere, before I kick his ass!" Marco says to Elliot and takes him to the garden. Marco sits on the swing while Elliot is standing in front of him. " Is anything wrong between your parents?" He asks. Marco takes a deep breath. "Yeah.. everything is so messed up here."
Marco replies and closes his eyes. Elliot nods.

They remains silent for a couple of minutes. Elliot looks at the stars while Marco is staring at him. He wants to express his feelings but he is too scared to do that. What if this is one sided and Elliot has no feelings for him? Thoughts are killing him from inside. He covers his face with his hands.

" Do you believe in love? " Elliot breaks the silence. Marco is too stunned to react. "Love?" He whispers. " Yes. Do you believe in that?" Elliot asks again. Marco remains silent for a second. He couldn't find any words to answer his question. " Yeah I do" he finally says. Elliot smiles while looking at the stars. Marco stares at him. There are so many thoughts that are running inside his mind.

" Fuck it" Elliot curses and kisses Marco!! THIS IS SOMETHING MARCO NEVER EXPECTED!!! The kiss is soft and full of love. Marco is sure he is going to faint now! Suddenly Elliot breaks the kiss and pushes him away. " I'm so sorry.. I didn't mean to.. I'm so so so sorry Marco" he apologizes. Marco's mouth is wide open.

"You too?" He finally says something. "What? What do you mean?" Elliot wonders. " I thought I'm the only one who is going crazy over you." He replies.

Elliot laughs. " Now you know you are not the only one." he says. This time Marco pulls him closer and kisses him. The kiss gets intense. Elliot slowly grabs his hair and pulls him closer.

They are totally lost in each other. It feels like time has stopped. Marco feels weak in knees so he sits on the bench. Elliot is sitting on his lap and kissing him. Suddenly they hear someone's voice and immediately break the kiss.

" I think I should go now" Elliot says. Marco clears his throat. " Would you mind if I drop you home? " He asks. " No, it's fine. It will be chaotic if they see us together." Elliot replies and hugs him tightly. " See you tomorrow darling" Marco says and kisses his cheek.

Elliot and Lisa say bye to Maya and David and leave. He turns around and gives a slutty look at Marco. Marco feels the whole zoo in his stomach by seeing that look from him.
