"Do you think we're soul mates?" She asked, lifting her head in order to lock eyes with him.
It took him a moment, mustering up his answer. Thinking about how they were so alike, but so different. How they had been through similar things and had th...

KATALEYA SIMONI BROOKS SATURDAY AFTERNOON. AUGUST 13th, 2022.
"OKAY, FOREAL WHATS wrong wit you." Zee asked snatching her roommate Kataleyas covers off of her body, causing her to mug her.
Knucks glanced at her, a permanent mug was written on her face. "Whatchu talm bout, and gimme dis." She muttered snatching the cover back.
"You been mugged up for like two days. I thought you was homesick or some shit, but Nicole jus brought our phones in here and you ain't flinch." Zee explained.
"I'm just not in the mood, my cycle probably finna come on." She altered the truth.
She had been in a bad mood since Wednesday. She couldn't stop legacy's words from playing in her head, making her wonder if she was really the problem.
She felt stupid for letting him get to her like he did, but after hearing it so many times, once he said it-it really sunk in for her.
At first, she ignored it but yesterday for the class they shared together-they exchanged absolutely zero words for the full hour and a half that they had to sit next to each other.
It bothered her, because she thought they were cool. She couldn't help but feel that he didn't have a right to feel some type of way when he interrogated her, but it was whatever.
"So you don't wanna check your phone..."zahari trailed off, waving the device in front of her face.
Kataleya glared at nothing, and took it from her hands. She clicked the power button seeing it was on 33 percent.
After typing in her passcode, she scrolled down seeing the many notifications she had gathered in the full seven days she was in action without her phone.
Making her way to her messages, most were from her old friends in Albany. After moving to Atlanta to live with Marcus and his family, a distance sprouted between her and them.
After replying to them, she clicked on her sister kaysee's messages. She was only her half sister, but they shared the same father so it didn't matter. She was older by two years, at nineteen years old.
She smiled seeing her sister had texted her everyday, like she was counting down the days until the next time they talked. As soon as the thought entered her mind, she silently reminded her self to log in on her regular iCloud so she could still contact her off her MacBook.
After replying to everyone, she went to Instagram.
She scrolled for a good four seconds, which was record time, before an idea popped up in her head. She went to the search bar, wondering if she could find legacy.
