OMNISCIENT PERSPECTIVE
MARCH 26th, SUNDAY
ATLANTA, GEORGIA

"SO BABY I was thinking, when the girls graduate this year—we can all take a family trip to Cancun. We need to all bond as a family." Miranda spoke softly, eyeing herself in the small compact mirror she was holding the palm of her hand.

"Why can Cancun of all places?" Marcus replied, fiddling with his phone in his lap. He was trying his best to send a message to his daughter Zalikah.

"Well because it's so beautiful and I just think—are you even listening to me baby?" She cut the beginning of her rant off, realizing he wasn't even giving her the time of day.

He sighed, hitting the power button on his phone. Sliding it into his pocket, he finally turned his head giving her his full attention. "I'm sorry baby, Zalikah is going crazy about her schools prom." He informed her.

She furrowed her eyebrows at his excuse. She believed him, but she was confused, "why is she freaking out about her prom?" She questioned.

"Well you know she goes to an all girls boarding school, so she didn't know that her school merges with Brooksdale for prom." He explained, watching Miranda gasp in delight.

"Knucks school?" She confirmed, feeling as if this would be the perfect opportunity to bond with eachother as sisters.

"That is not that little girls name and I wish y'all would stop calling her that. Knucks is for her hood rat friends— we are her parents and her name is Kataleya." Marcus reprimanded, feelings agitated by her name.

He was annoyed that she was sticking to her word and staying far away from them. He thought cutting off her money would have her running back, in his mind money was the root to all solutions.

He hasn't seen her in months, and now he was starting to think it was a mistake sending her away. Now she had a taste of what it was like to be without them, and he was afraid she would be fine on her own without his finances.

"Marcus, your only her stepfather." Miranda sighed, shaking her head. He had tricked himself into thinking that kataleyas father didn't exist, and she was his biological child. "And I never knew it was such a problem to call her Knucks." She added.

"Yeah it wasn't, but now she's an adult, she needs to let go of the stupid name. What adult do you know is walking about with that type of name." He spat.

Miranda could sense his energy and decided it would just be best to submit to what he was saying. "Okay your right, I'll try and get her to drop it." She muttered angrily. "I just don't appreciate how your always worried about her Marcus!" She exploded, causing leon to look in his rearview.
