MAYA [Book 1 - Water]

ANNOUNCEMENT

Hi everyone this is GirlBehindBars! 

I would just like to announce to all readers of MAYA that I will be taking one final long break before ending this book. 

I'm currently in my last year of architecture school and I am just a few weeks away from graduating.

There's a lot to do for my thesis project, so I have decided to focus on that first before I give all my focus to this book.

Rest assured that the story of MAYA will not be dropped for I have already planned everything.

In fact, the Avatar Fanfiction Series (AFS) will tackle 5 avatar life cycles from Avatar Aang up until the next air avatar in the cycle. 

Tackled along with the Avatar's life would be their companions that will soon be explained in the latter books of the series.

Just to give everyone a heads up on my plan, this is how I've drafted them to be:

Avatar Aang & Maya

A 13-year-old girl born in the southern water tribe finds out through her mother's letters that she was actually affiliated with the Fire Nation, and not just that, but she's the unsung daughter of the current Fire Lord—Ozai. After discovering Avatar Aang who was frozen in an iceberg, she together with her adoptive cousins, Sokka and Katara, decided to join the avatar on his mission to save the world. On their journey, she uncovered the story of her ancestors and how unjustly they were treated by the world. But little did she know about the otherworldly connection that ties her fate with the Avatar's.

Avatar Korra & Terra

After the death of her parents due to a fire incident that burned their house down, Terra was adopted by her foster parents ever since she was a baby. The lovely couple was composed of a doctor and a florist who lives in one of the cities in the United Republic of Nations. Terra was known to excel greatly and advance in everything she did. At an early age, she was already a prodigy in earthbending, as well as metalbending. By the age of 15, she became a private soldier of the United Forces under the supervision of General Iroh II. Boring and no fun is what she'd describe life, for everything came too easy for her. Well, that was until she met her match in the form of Avatar Korra.

Avatar Hiro & Moku

With the connection to the past avatars gone, Avatar Hiro now finds it hard to solve the world's problems by only relying on Avatar Korra's knowledge of the past. Because of this, he decided to travel the spirit world in hopes of finding a way to reconnect with his other past lives. In there he discovered the story of Sue, the first ever Avatar Companion, and how her ties with the Avatar Spirit had been made. He traveled far and wide in search of his companion until he stumbled upon Moku, an air nomad from the Northern Air Temple.

Avatar Pyra & Malek

Avatar Pyra, born in the great city of Agneya on the outskirts of the Fire Nation, was taken in by the current Fire Lord Jashin to become a member of the Royal Family. She was arranged to marry the current crowned prince of the Fire Nation—Prince Sheng. News about an Avatar and a soon-to-be Fire Lord tying the knot was perceived as a threat by the other nations. With everyone on their guard, it was only a matter of time before a world war commenced. Because of this, Avatar Pyra traveled the world and gathered a representative for each nation in hopes of getting help to prevent a war from happening. In her journey to the Northern Water Tribe, she met Malek, the son of the current chief.

Avatar Tal & Helga

After the war between benders broke loose in the era of Avatar Pyra, non-benders decided that they'd had enough. With the use of advanced technology, non-benders declared war on the benders of all nations, driving them to the brink of extinction. After giving birth to Avatar Tal, Seiyi was hunted down and annihilated by the Non-benders Association of Peacemakers (NAP). Avatar Tal was soon found and adopted by a lovely couple living in the Soviet Republic (former Fire Nation) and there he lived a peaceful life accompanied by his childhood best friend—Helga. Growing up in a non-bender family, Avatar Tal never knew he was a bender—let alone the Avatar. It was until one night, a spirit talked to him in his dreams activating his Avatar state.

Those are the best descriptions I can give without spoiling too much information. But of course, things are not yet set in stone. There are still possible changes that may occur in the process of creating these stories.

Just a bit of disclaimer, I intend not to follow the original scripts of both existing shows, ATLA and TLOK and I also changed/altered some of the existing Avatar Lore to get my desired storytelling.
