Back at the station I'm sitting with JJ and Derek at the table looking through the photos of the victims. Spence comes walking back in after taking a phone call.

"That was Dr. Carroll. Preliminary test results show the unsub has cancer of the blood. He's dying." He informs us taking the open seat next to me.

"Karma..." I mutter under my breath. Spence cocks a brow in my direction.

"All right, wait a minute. Witnesses said Jake Shepherd, the first victim, was put on the lake for a baptism, right?" Derek says looking down at his files.

"He was with his congregation." JJ answers him. My eyes follow Hotch walking behind us to look at the board.

"Well, those water burials can be seen as a form of baptism, too." Derek claims.

"Especially dealing with an unsub who has a God complex." Spence adds, drawing my attention to him.

"Could there be a religious or spiritual motivation to why the unsub is doing this?" I question, before Hotch puts his phone on the table in the middle of Spence and I while we listen to it ring.

"Speak and be heard!" Penny's majestic voice answers.

"Garcia, I need you to pull a list of patients in the area with any form of blood cancer." Hotch orders. The clacking from her keyboard already sounding through the speaker.

"I will make HIPAA my bitch, sir."

"I also need information on Jake Shepherd. Religious ties, spiritual background, anything." He adds to her list of honey do's.

"Oh, all that information will make for a fast search. Give me a mo....spiritual, something heaven sent, other than my angelic self....BAM." She pauses for a brief moment before her voice comes back over the line. "Jake Shepherd joined the church after a near death experience changed his life."

"What happened to him?" Hotch asks.

"He was in an ATV accident, he coded for 4 minutes, he was life flighted to LA where they managed to revive him, but clinically he did die."

"Death and resuscitation....sounds a little too similar to our unsub's M.O. to be a coincidence." I point out looking over my shoulder at Hotch.

"All right, Garcia, dig deeper. Jake Shepherd's death wasn't random." Hotch tells her.

"It's on like Obi-wan. Garcia out." She hangs up as Hotch grabs his phone off the table.

"So a terminally ill unsub targets a man who came back from the dead and then starts killing repeatedly. I mean, am I crazy, or is this about a guy trying to come to terms with his own death?" Derek speaks up as Spence nods his head listening.

"Objectively speaking we are all slightly crazy." I state earning a smirk from him.

"There is no objectively speaking when it comes to you pretty girl."
