I'm leaning against one of the tables in the middle of the room listening to Hotch start us off on our profile. Little miss was tap dancing like crazy on my bladder, making me feel like I'm going to pee my pants in front of all these strangers.

"Due to the sophisticated nature of the crimes, we believe that we're looking for a male unsub who's at least 30, who's torturing his victims. We think that he's trying to perfect a delusion at which he's failed 3 times." Hotch explains.

Rossi steps up to speak looking over the crowd of officers and detectives, his years of experience giving profiles showing. "As with most fantasy based crimes, the reality never lives up to the perfection of what the unsub envisions."

I try my best not to gag at the reminder of the mens feet broken and bent unnaturally in the box while I talk. "This fantasy involves the torture and stretching of his victims, including men that have had their hair dyed black by the unsub."

"But before he kills them, our unsub fixes their hair and paints their nails." Spencer adds after me.

"He's now escalated to crucifying his latest victim, driving holes into his hands and feet." Derek explains next before Blake takes over to give a deeper explanation. "Historically, crucifixion is a sentence reserved for serious crimes."

"Which makes us believe that somewhere in the unsub's past, he feels his victims have wronged him, so now he's performing some sort of inquisition." Derek finishes.

"Whether he's getting his victims to repent or adhere to certain religious beliefs, he is hanging them as though they were victims of the religious tribunals of the 1100s." JJ says next.

"But something in his fantasy is not working, because he keeps discarding the men." Hotch states.

"He kills them and then ritualistically places them in a box with tissue paper." I explain a slight shiver running through my body at the images popping up in my head.

"Which is odd, as his initial behavior dehumanizes them." Rossi pauses for a moment scanning the crowd, "That means he values those victims more when they're dead."

I happily turn my attention to Spence when he starts talking again, his voice replacing the cold shiver into one of excitement. "So far we believe he has spared the one woman that he still has in captivity. She's either witnessing these horrors or being forced to participate in them."

"Crucifixion is sadistic, and watching it is the ultimate torture." Blake explains.

"Consequently, we believe that the killings will continue to escalate as the unsub strives to achieve his perfection." Hotch looks around the room nodding his head. "Thank you for your time."

Hotch sends JJ and Derek to talk with the owner at Bonner Brothers after our profile. I spend a few minutes talking with Rossi and Blake about a few questions I had unrelated to the case. Rossi rolled his eyes a few times while Blake seemed amused. At least someone was enjoying the conversation.
