Spence is sitting on a desk, my hands lightly brushing his in comfort as we deliver our profile of the unsub. The smell of freshly brewed coffee assaulted my nose, the overwhelming urge to pour myself a cup was a real problem. I know I use coffee as a clutch to avoid my actual problems. But....that doesn't mean I don't miss it like a damn drug addict.
"We believe our unsub is a white male paranoid schizophrenic who suffers from hallucinations." Hotch states. My eyes dart to the side looking at Spence worriedly. "Since schizophrenic breaks usually occur in your early 20s we believe he's around this age and that he lives nearby. We think this unsub is hypervigilant, and in this condition, he's unable to travel very far from his home." Hotch finishes.
Spence looks down, his hands starting to fidget. My talk with him last night didn't go so well. He ended up using sex to avoid the emotions he was feeling and while I will take sex at any time...any day...any way with this beauitful man, I know that avoiding big emotions leads to big issues.
Clearly I'm the queen at it.
"He kills at night and is extremely violent. During the day, he's most likely a loner. Someone in this state probably can't keep a job. We believe something happened to our unsub in his childhood.....Childhood voices are telling him to kill or he's misinterpreting them as doing so." Rossi explains before Ashley starts to speak.
"Our unsub has probably been coping until now, but a recent stressor brought him back to that childhood incident and is causing him to act out."
"Our unsub spends his days wandering, trying to fight the desire to kill, yet he feels trapped by his hallucinations. No matter what he does or tries to do the hallucinations' power is greater than his own. Because of his limited social circle as a child, it is our belief that the incident involved close friends or family. Now once we figure out what happened when he was a kid and the stressor that recently triggered a relapse, we'll be that much closer to narrowing down the killer's identity." Derek explains looking around the room as he speaks.
"Reid" Hotch says looking over his shoulder at him. My hand brushes his again getting his attention.
"We need you all to start searching in this area." His voice was softer than normal. He grabs the map on the desk laying next to him and handing it off to the detective standing not to far in front of us. "Based on previous kills, we know that he strikes at night and will not retreat until we find him." he finishes.
Hotch gives everyone orders before we all disperse. Spence starts to walk off as I go to follow him but Derek stops me. "Let me talk to him." He offers as I shake my head.
"But I...." I try to argue but he stops me again.
"You need a break Sunny.....you can't help him if you aren't doing good either. Let me help both of you." He tells me more demanding than a suggestion. I nod my head yes as he starts to walk away.
