We're standing in front of the entire station of the LAPD, my heart pounding as I look around the room nervously. I hate giving profiles, hate public speaking, it's amazing my word vomit doesn't make more of an appearance but I think I'm so anxious that I'm hyper focused on my part of the profile that I don't have time to think about anything else.
Spence leans closer into me, his hand brushing against mine in comfort. I remember the days when he would do that while we were friends. How stupid of us to ever believe we weren't more.
"We believe that these unsubs are two women who are killing people convicted of heinous crimes. Unlike solo vigilantes, they're working in concert and they're planning and executing coordinated attacks. They're mentality is like a lynch mob. They believe the justice system has gone wrong and it's up to them to set it right." Hotch starts us off like always.
"Due to the pre-planning and level of commitment, we believe our unsubs are over 30. And they probably learned about the crimes they're avenging through the media." Rossi says looking around the room.
"It's possible they were involved in the losses personally and now they feel the need to act." I speak up. I can't say what I really want to say, because I don't have proof yet.
"This latest attack felt more improvised and personal. They didn't lure their victim. Rather they blitz attacked him outside of his job." JJ says after me.
Derek takes in a sharp breath before he begins everyone giving him their attention, "Now, during a spree, the threat is that an unsub will either strike again or disappear. Now, if they've completed their vendetta, then the latter is more likely. Our unsubs may not have prior criminal histories, as they see themselves as do-gooders."
"Based on the fact that one victim was dragged postmortem and the other were dragged alive, we believe that one woman is not as confident in the mission while the other is more domineering." Blake says next to him leaning against a desk.
"We're looking for mothers, relatives, friends who have lost children." I list off next. Spence squeezes my hand in comfort before it's his turn to talk.
"We also need to look at the collateral damage of the crimes our current victims committed years ago. Since this is the only thing our unsubs have in common, it tells us that as time goes on, their friendship will become strained and ultimately fall apart." I could listen to him talk for hours.
Hotch clears his throat, "Thank you." Is all he says dismissing the station without a further word.
Our team makes our way back into the conference room, Derek is the last one to come in closing the door behind him for privacy.
"So how do these unsubs meet?" Hotch questions looking around at all of us.
"Maybe they're involved in the trials." Derek suggests making his way towards the table to take a seat.
