I can't believe I'm here, that this is real life. My life. I take in the organized chaos while everyone sets up the chairs on the black and white slab marble floors. There was only one place I could envision marrying Spence. A bookworm's wet dream, the George Peabody Library. Literally a cathedral of books, and two hours from now I'm about to say I do in the middle of this incredible place. My eyes travel up the five tiers of ornamental black cast-iron balconies and golden scalloped columns that contain the packed book stacks before meeting the high latticed skylight. It was breathtaking.
"Sunday Finnegan!" Penny shouts across the atrium, "Are you freaking kidding me! You can't just sneak away to sniff books." She stomps towards me angrily. I turn to look back up at the skylight taking everything in.
"Pen it's breathtaking....just look." I let out a wistful sigh. I rarely feel this kind of happiness in a random place but there is something about this atrium...about this library...it's enchanting.
Penny's face softens as she takes a moment to look with me, "I don't think you could have picked a more perfect wedding venue." She states wrapping her arm around my shoulder as we stand there just staring in wonderment.
After a few more minutes she pulls me back to the room where the girls are getting ready. Leann our hired hairdresser just finished up JJ's hair, a sleek low bun with a few strands pulled out to frame her face. Emily opted for a curled half updo, while Penny has her hair curled and down with a giant lilac flower pining back some of her hair.
"Was worried you were getting cold feet." Emily teases as she unzips the garment bag that holds her bridesmaid dress.
"If there is one thing in my life that I'm absolutely sure about, it's marrying Spencer Reid. I just couldn't resist taking another peek at the atrium." You could practically feel the excitement radiating through me.
"I'm surprised you didn't bump into Reid. Something tells me he's snuck out a time or two to get a look through the stacks." JJ says before taking a sip of champagne.
"Oh he'll be sneaking off to the stacks later" I smirk. Leann's jaw drops as she stares at me with wide eyes through the mirror. It didn't take long for girls to start laughing.
"Naughty girl." Emily winks as she walks towards the adjoining bathroom behind me to change into her dress.
Leann continues on my hair, I wanted soft elegant curls. Spence has only ever seen my wild natural curls, today I wanted to feel like someone worthy of walking down the aisle in the most gorgeous library in the world....wanted him to think I was elegant and graceful, not a chaotic mess. She was almost done, just a few more strands left when I hear a knock on the door.
Derek walks in looking sharp in his black tux. He was holding a box with a bow tied to it. "Ladies, looking absolutely divine." He gives that dashing smile, stopping right in front of me, Leann continuing to curl my hair as he leans down to kiss my cheek. "Hey pretty girl."
