"CELL BLOCK C, CELL ELEVEN."

Ghost walked forward to the slot in his cell.

"What I got?"

"Mail and money on your books."

Ghost nodded, picking up the papers but still lingering there since the guard was also.

"You need ah phone this week?"

"Nah." Ghost responded under his breath, the guard backing up from his cell and moving onto calling the next for their mail.

Ghost went and sat down on the bed, flipping through the mail he got. One letter from his dad, and a couple from the guys and really nothing else.

He set the mail aside on the bed but then something fell off from in between the envelopes.

Ghost reached down, picking up the image but on the side with only writings.

'Hey dad, here's a picture for your wall like you asked. I'm taking very great care of the house and the dogs. I wrote more in my letter and will come to visit soon. I love you so much! -love Salem.'

Ghosts face balled up slightly, knowing he ain't have no kid and nothing else in the letter connected back to him.

He turned the image around, holding it tightly under his thumb and stared at it.

There was a girl, kneeled down next to two angry looking bulldogs. Both dogs still had their faces squished against hers. Her arms were wrapped around the sides of their neck while she had a small smile on her face that showed no teeth.

Ghost looked at her eyes though, her eyes could tell that even if her smile wasn't so full, she was still okay.

He could tell by the picture alone that this was where she belonged, with these two dogs smiling away in what looked to be a dog park from the background.

She had freckles scattered over her nose and across. Ghost couldn't help but bring the image closer to get a better look. The image wasn't clear enough for him to count how many there were but if he could've he sure would've.

Ghost didn't know who this picture belonged to. All he knew was the name and address at the bottom.

He stood up from his mattress, raising it and sitting the image down there and not thinking about it any further.

A week later.

Ghost inched back from the front of his cell, mail once again in his hand.

He flipped through the mail, bypassing everything else because he wanted to find a slip up. He wanted another image, another sight of the girl he'd been staring at before he went to sleep every night.

He wasn't being weird about it, but he couldn't help but hold the picture up under the moon light and look at her as best as he could.

Just as he was ready to give up on their being another image, a piece fell short from his mail onto the floor.

Ghost leaned down, picking up the slip and turning it over to read the back.

'-love Salem'

He turned the image back over, looking at it. This time she was holding the two dogs on a leash. She had on a large north face black puffer coat along with a scarf covering most of her face and neck.

She had her thumb raised with two leashes in her grip and the two dogs in view down below looking like angry body guards.

Her lips were raised in a smile, slightly showing her front teeth but not enough for a full smile. Ghost licked his lips, finding himself wanting to see more of her.
