THE WITHERED mummy that held the Oracle shuffled forward until she stood in the center of the group.

Mist curled around their feet, turning the snow a sickly shade of green.

None of them dared move. Then her voice hissed inside Cassie's head. Apparently everyone could hear it, because several clutched their hands over their ears.

Percy and her shared a look of, what the Hades?

I am the spirit of Delphi, the voice said. Speaker of the prophecies of Phoebus Apollo, slayer of the mighty Python.

Miss ma'am really had a full resumé

Then she turned unmistakably towards Cassie. Cassie widened her eyes and stepped back. Woah, she didn't want the attention of a mummy.

Approach, Seeker, and ask.

Cassie swallowed and stepped forward with security. "How can I find my friend Annabeth Chase? Oh, and the goddess Artemis?"

The Oracle's mouth opened, and green mist poured out.

Did the Oracle ever wash her teeth? Obviously not, but if she did, would the mist still be green?

Cassie saw the vague image of a mountain, and a girl standing at the barren peak. It was Artemis, but she was wrapped in chains, fettered to the rocks.

She was kneeling, her hands raised as if to fend off an attacker, and it looked like she was in pain.

The Oracle spoke:
Six shall go west to the goddess in chains,
One shall be lost in the land without rain,
The bane of Olympus shows the trail,
Campers and Hunters combined prevail,
Daughter of desire will by the sun be grazed,
Mother and daughter shall meet at the same place,
The Titan's curse must one withstand,
And one shall perish by a parent's hand.

Then, as they were watching, the mist swirled and retreated like a great green serpent into the mummy's mouth.

The Oracle sat down on a rock and became as still as she'd been in the attic, as if she might sit by the creek for a hundred years.

Cassie felt a sudden rush, she had a quest. A quest to go save her best friend, and a goddess.

Still, she hadn't forgotten how Annabeth was going to ditch her and Percy for the hunters. Nonetheless she still loved Annabeth.

And what did the prophecy even mean? Usually they only made sense at the end, trying to figure it so early on would make her go insane.

But the line of the prophecy that danced in her head rent free was about her mother. She was in New York supposedly.

Knowing Jasmine Bradbury, she probably hadn't moved out of her bed all week. The usual sense of dread that filled Cassie every time she thought of her mother invaded her.

Mr. D called a council of cabin leaders, and since Cassie was assistant counsellor of cabin eleven- and she was literally the leader of the quest she attended the meeting.

The Ares kids were supposed to send a representative, too, but all of them had gotten broken limbs (accidentally) during capture the flag, courtesy of the Hunters. They were resting up in the infirmary.

Poor kids, but knowing them they were having a kick with the ambrosia doses they were having.

She made a mental note to visit Clarisse with cookies.

The meeting had done horribly wrong, Zoë and her had ended up fighting, Percy couldn't join the quest and Cassie was in the same bad mood as Percy.

They both had skipped dinner, they spent every single moment in Percy's cabin.

Cassie had brought her latest CD, that Silena had gifted her.

They played cards. "Zoë is sooo bossy." Cassie said while smiling at her cards.

"Yeah." Percy smiled at his own cards.

"I'll kill some monsters for you."

He dropped his cards on the mattress. "I'll count you on that."

Cassie grinned and showed her own cards. "I win."

He huffed, "you're no fun."

She poked her tongue at him. "You're a sore loser."

Cassie bolted up. "I love this song!"

She rushed to the CD player she had brought, she raised the volume. "C'mon Percy." She took him by the hand.

Percy looked mortified. "Don't tell me we have to dance, again."

Cassie laughed and danced with him.

THE SUN hadn't raised yet when Cassie and the questers got ready to leave.

The day before Connor and Travis had said goodbye to her with a mars chocolate bar.

They had whispered something about 'taking care of the problem.' Whatever the Hades that was about.

Silena and her had done one last final face mask before she left.

Even Ethan, who didn't show much his emotions, hugged Cassie that night.

Talking about her last night before the quest, Nico di Angelo and her had been up all night.

Talking basically, playing with his Mytho Magic Cards. Sadly Nico was missing Eros and Hades.

Cassie had forced Nico to go to sleep, and he had, until he woke her up saying he couldn't sleep. He pulled the I miss my sister card, so Cassie had no other option than to sleep with him.

Not that she would complain since Nico had grown on her, and it looked she had grown on him too.

The next morning Thalia and Zoë were bickering as usual.

Bianca came up to her. "Hey Cassie."

Cassie smiled. "Excited for your first quest?"

"Yeah," Bianca's smile vanished. "Phoebe isn't coming."

"Why?" Cassie tried to not be very happy, if Phoebe wasn't coming it would mean that Percy could come in her place.

"The shirt the Stolls gave her had Centaur blood, she's in the infirmary now."

"Thanks Bianca."

Bianca seemed confused. "Wha-"

Cassie went to where Zoë was, by the van she was going to drive.

"Percy can come now."

Zoë glared at her. "We have to leave now. No time for thy male friend."

"But-"

The rest of the questers barged into the van, Zoë raised her brow. "Are you coming?"
