CASSIE BRADBURY could practically see stars, but she focussed, she had to focus.
What had her father said? Your Vena Cava is pumping poison.
Cassie had dropped out of school, but she knew the Vena Cava was in the heart- thank gods to Annabeth and her rambling.
She had never imagined her own heart, toying with it, playing with it.
There was a voice in her mind, telling her not to, but the voice got quiet, as her body continue to burn.
Cassie imagined it, paying attention to every single detail, and then the poison, she winced as she did.
Then slowly but surely her heart stopped, there was no pumping, the poison couldn't move.
She gasped for air but forced herself to continue imagining herself, burning the own poison.
Her face paled, but Cassie continued, she kept pushing.
She had lost her vision, she could only see a long dark tunnel, with nothing at the end. Just absolute darkness surrounding her, completely alone.
But then she heard voices, her friends.
C'mon Cassie, Percy seemed to whisper in her ear, it's just a little longer.
And with a big gasp of air Cassie saw the light, bathing her, consuming her, there was no darkness anymore, but scorching light.
"Cassie!" Percy stood above her, obviously worried.
She smiled weakly, "what did I miss?"
Suddenly he hugged her, "Cassie."
Grover and Annabeth were in front of her, looking worried too.
"Did Percy's plan work?" She asked.
Percy nodded, "what happened to you?" He offered her a hand, helping her to stand up. "You kind of... we thought..." He shook his head, "never mind."
"Ethan's blade had poison."
Percy's features hardened at the mention of Ethan Nakamura. "Are you okay?"
Cassie nodded, but she remembered what she had discovered, "though there's something..." She told them about Killian and the Prophecy.
