CASSIOPEIA WAS not having the best year of her life.
The loss of her mother and an impending betrayal hung over her like an ax.

Mothers and daughters were a complex tragedy Cassiopeia never understood until that moment. She felt like a half, constantly wondering for the rest of her.

Nico DiAngelo turned out to be the son of Hades, and had ran off to gods know where.

She probably would've went out to look for him if she hadn't grown obsessed with herself.

Sounds bad, she knows. But when they came back to camp Cassie didn't smile as much. Nobody really payed any attention thinking it was the loss of Bianca and Zoë.

Truly Cassie didn't want to smile at someone who could potentially be planning how to get rid of her- just like the gods had.

Was it a friend from the Apollo cabin? Seeking their father's love could be enough motivation to kill her.

Cassie groaned and fought against the practice dummy.

Her hair was tied in a long braid, her eyes blazing with frustration and tiredness.

She replayed the last hours in her head and punched the dummy straight in the face.

Percy and Annabeth were at the cinema in the current moment, or rather going out. Stupid Annabeth and stupid Percy.

Cassie wasn't going to lie, it was her fault. She had been distancing herself, a bit only.

But still, they were a friend group and not to be petty (she totally was) Percy had been her best friend since childhood.

The dummy dropped on the floor with a thud! Slow clapping came from behind.

"Well Cassiopeia, it only took you five minutes today to destroy a dummy with your same fighting level."

Cassie slowly turned round her head, slightly glaring at his mocking tone.

"Just training."

"Just training." He mimicked.

The newest activities director had been getting on her nerves ever since he got to camp.

She even surprised herself by missing Mr. D who was nowhere to be seen, probably preparing for the upcoming war.

Mrs O'Leary, a massive hellhound with big honey eyes rushed to her, licking her face clean.

Cassie laughed and scratched her head. "Good to see you Mrs O'Leary."

Mrs O'Leary barked in appreciation.

Someone coughed from behind. But she already knew who it was before she even saw him.

She slowly turned around, their eyes met.

He was taller now, slightly taller than her, his black hair messier and his green eyes somehow resembled the sea more. He looked older, more mature.

Cassie knew he had the type of face that would inspire an artist to paint the greenest of waters and the deadliest of storms- but that just was because Cass was a lover of art and Percy Jackson resembled art.

"I just-."

"Wanted to blow steam?" Percy always went to the fighting arena when he was confused or angry (or anything along those lines), much like her.
