Chapter 20

HITS DIFFERENT

ADIRA

I woke up with a sore body and a warm feeling of gratitude enveloping me. I glanced at the other side of the bed, which was surprisingly empty.

“So much for just one night.” I muttered, then stretched and rubbed the sleep from my eyes.

My hair fell in matted waves down my back, and my breasts and neck were littered with half a dozen spots of red and purple.

Last night had been a turning point in our relationship, and I felt nice that Arjun had opened up to me, sharing his fears and insecurities. I couldn't resist my smile at the memory of last night's conversation with Arjun. Something has shifted between us. We had shared both physical and emotional intimacy and bared ourselves to each other.

I quickly put on Arjun's shirt and went to my room as quietly as possible. When I stepped into my room, I noticed the perfectly untouched bed, reminding me of the peaceful night's sleep I had. After a refreshing bath, I changed into comfortable clothes. I managed to hide the red marks with makeup.

As I entered the kitchen, the sight of Arjun wearing an apron while flipping pancakes made my heart skip a beat. He looked undeniably cute and charming at that moment. His focus on the task at hand, the way he moved with ease, it all added to his charm. Arjun had prepared breakfast for me, and it was a simple yet sweet gesture that warmed my heart.

Kavya's cheerful greeting broke my reverie," Good Morning sunshine", and I offered her a warm smile.

Arjun passed me a plate of delicious-looking pancakes, and our fingers brushed momentarily. A gentle thrill ran through me at the touch, but I tried to hide my emotions behind a casual demeanour." Did you sleep well?", his tone was soft, with a hint of hidden innuendo.

"Yeah, like a baby, thanks," I replied, trying to keep my voice steady. My cheeks flushed with memory of last night.

I busied myself by grabbing a glass of water, taking a seat between Kavya and Ayan.

"Hey, how are you feeling this morning?" Ayan asked me with a smile. I wondered why everyone was so obsessed about this morning.

"Oh, I'm fine, just a bit tired. And speaking of flights, ours is in the evening, right? I forced a smile.

"Yeah, we have some time before we need to head to the airport. We have our flight at 8:15 PM today.", he nodded.

Arjun's scrutiny left me uncertain; unsure if it stemmed from jealousy or concern, but his watchful eyes lingered on me throughout our conversation, making me feel self-conscious and unsure of how to behave around Ayan.

I observed a subtle tension simmering beneath the surface whenever Arjun and Viraj interacted. Despite the occasional glances and guarded responses, it was evident that something significant lingered between them. As much as I tried not to read too much into it, I wanted to know what has prospered.
