Chapter 41

Love story

Adira

"Are you going to wallow in pity and regret? That's not the Adira I know," Kavya said with a determined look.

I turned and saw Kavya and Viraj standing behind me in the same outfits from the party.

"Trust me, this sadness doesn't suit you," Viraj chimed in with light chuckle.

"But he left. There's nothing I could do now," I said. A heavy sigh escaping my lips.

"This is Arjun we're talking about. He's always been fashionably late for everything. I'm sure he must be on his way. It's never too late," Viraj reassured me.

Kavya handed me the keys to their Land Rover. "Some wise woman told me that my and Viraj's love is worth fighting for. Yours is too, Adira."

"Go, get that idiot," Viraj added with a grin.

Taking the keys with a renewed sense of hope, I nodded gratefully. "I owe you. You guys are the best."

"We know. Now off you go," Kavya said, giving me an encouraging push.

I hurried to the elevator, but it seemed to take forever. Impatient, I darted to the stairs and practically flew down to the lobby. I dashed towards the car park, quickly started the engine, and set off determinedly to reach the airport.

My driving was rash, fueled by urgency, as I took dramatic turns and daring overtakes. All I could think about was getting to the airport in time to find Arjun.

As I weaved through traffic, my heart raced with determination of reaching to him and anxiety of reaching to him in time. I couldn't let Arjun slip away from me now. Not after everything we had been through.

But then, near the airport road, I encountered an endless jam of cars. My patience was wearing thin as I honked my horn in frustration. The minutes ticked by, each one feeling like an eternity.

I hastily dialed his number, my fingers trembling slightly as I watched the call go through. But my heart sank when all I heard was the automated voice telling me that his number was switched off. Frustration boiled within me.

In a burst of determination, I started typing out a message, my fingers flying across the screen. "Arjun, you fool, don't get on that damn plane. Don't you dare leave me." I hit send, hoping against hope that somehow, he would receive my message in time.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the traffic began to clear. With a renewed sense of haste, I pressed down on the accelerator, my car weaving through the lanes as I raced toward the destination.

I knew that the other drivers around me might be cursing my recklessness, but at that moment, there was only one thing on my mind: reaching Arjun before it was too late.
