{ Here be dragons }

Over the next few months, Valyria had fallen into a routine. But, today, she was allowed to break the routine.

"Granddaughter. I have excellent news for you." Valyria looked up at her Grandsire. Alicent hid her smile. She knew the news, and she knew that the Princess would enjoy it.

"The boys will be going to the Dragonpit today and you will be joining them. You should be used to being near dragons for when you acquire your own." Valyria attempted to hide her excitement and nodded.

But Aemond could tell from the way her leg bounced up and down anxiously, and her hand stopped shaking for a moment. He was glad she was happy.

"You should ride Sunfyre. He likes pretty things," Aegon murmured, and Valyria blushed slightly. Alicent saw this and felt a pang of hope that maybe he would go through with the marriage without fighting her.

She decided to test him.

"Aegon, we will have to start fitting you for your wedding clothes. You won't grow much in a few years, I don't think." Aegon tensed slightly at the comment by his mother, but out of the corner of his eye, saw Valyria's hand shake again.

Over the last few months, he had figured out when her hand would shake. When she was nervous or stressed, it shook. When she was angry, it shook. When she was sad, it shook. At the moment, from the look on her face, he could see that she was stressed.

He had vehemently spoken out about the marriage, and it always made her tense up.

"Of course, Mother. I would like to wear dark green, if I may." Alicent was surprised. There was no snarky comment and no resistance.

"Alicent, I don't think they need to worry just yet. Rhaenyra's not of age. Her twelfth nameday is months away." Alicent clenched her fist tightly.

"I don't think Valyria should wait for very long," Alicent said, exaggeratedly saying her name. Viserys looked confused, then chuckled and nodded.

"You look so much like her, Granddaughter." He stood. "I have broken my fast. Have a good day, children." And he was gone, his cane striking the ground with every step.

"Be careful in the Dragonpit, Valyria. Dragons are unpredictable," Alicent said, and stood and walked away.

The four children stood.

"Will you join us, sister?" Aemond asked Helaena. She had her own dragon; Dreamfyre. She shook her head. "No, the voices need me." And she was gone.

Aegon scowled at that. "At least I don't have to marry her. You get that honor, brother." Valyria raised a brow at Aemond. "You're marrying?" He hesitated. Her face wasn't upset or happy, sort of in the middle.
