The doors entered, and everyone turned their heads to see Valyria walk in, escorted by her brother. The table had been replaced by a larger one.

Viserys sat in the middle, Alicent to his left, and Rhaenyra to his right. Daemon was beside Rhaenyra, then Luke, and then there was a spot for Jace. Beside him would be Rhaena, then Baela. There was another empty spot, which was for Valyria, then Aegon, Helaena, and Aemond, at the head of the table.

There was a place for everyone. Jace bowed and Valyria curtseyed as they went to their own seats.

Valyria settled beside Aegon, who looked strangely proper. He wore green and actually looked like a regal prince.

If she forgot about all of the unprincely things she'd seen him do, then she'd think he was a true knight in shining armor.

Aegon noticed her staring and raised a brow as he brought a cup to his lips.

"What?" He asked. She shook her head, slightly embarrassed from being caught, and looked down at her meal.

Viserys smiled as he called them to listen. Every person at that table listened intently as he waited to share the news.

"Children, grandchildren, brother, and nieces, I have excellent news. As are you all, I am aware of the bad blood between the two sides of our family. But, my daughter and I have decided upon an alliance between us; in the purest form."

He looked at Rhaenyra, who nodded at her family members. Even Daemon didn't know.

"To further broker peace, we will unite our families in an unbreakable bond. Princess Valyria will be marrying Prince Aegon—" There was unrest on her side. Daemon looked incredulously at Rhaenyra, but she didn't glance at him.

Jace was whispering to Baela and Rhaena, and Luke just looked confused. He was too young to understand.

"This union—" She was cut off by Viserys clearing his throat, calling the children to silence.

"This union will cement our families as one." Aegon snorted, and Valyria elbowed him. Even from across the table, Daemon noticed the action.

"When?" Daemon asked, bringing his cup to his lips as he giggled. "In a matter of years. When they both come of age." Daemon nodded at Alicent's clipped answer.

"The betrothal will be announced tomorrow at Valyria's nameday to the noble houses, and our Velaryon counterparts." Then Viserys said something none of them expected.
