☆ CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX ☆
{ We are the kings and the queens }
"Ah, granddaughter, come!" Valyria sat in the row in front of her Grandsire and Alicent, between Aegon and Helaena, with Aemond beside Helaena.
"Aemond's Tournament will begin, now that Valyria is here. She was late, as is her custom. Begin!" Viserys called out, and the crowds in the arena went wild as the first competitors stood across from each other.
Then they raced towards each other until the one in the yellow armor was unhorsed.
She saw Ser Criston up beside Alicent and beckoned him down.
"Will you be participating, ser?" She asked as the crowd cheered for the winner. He chuckled. "I did not plan on it. Would you like for me to?"
"In honor of the prince's nameday, it would be a treat, don't you think?" He looked out at the competitors, then finally nodded. He looked at Alicent.
"Your Grace, I will be participating in today's tournament, with your permission, of course." Alicent nodded, and Cole went off.
Valyria was bored watching everyone else until Helaena leaned over. "How is your brother?" She asked suddenly. Valyria looked at the odd princess and shrugged. "Jace is fine. He is being groomed by my mother. Luke has been arranged to marry Baela, our cousin."
She then eyed the princess. "Why do you ask?" She asked, amused by her aunt's interest in Valyria's brother.
Helaena rolled her eyes.
"Helaena. Come," Alicent called down. Valyria made a face, but Helaena just sighed and said goodbye as she sat by her mother's side.
Aemond looked around, then scooted to sit beside the princess. She smiled. "Happy nameday, Aemond."
"Thank you. Now, what extravagant gift have you gotten me?" He made the joke, knowing that every year, she always tried to give him something perfect. But, typically, the gift was awful.
"You will love it, I am sure of it," she said, bristling from his playful jab.
Aegon, who had been eavesdropping, looked at Aemond and grinned. "I too have a gift for you, brother. You will be joining me tonight to the Street of Silk." Aemond frowned.
He knew what occurred on the Street of Silk, and he didn't much care for whatever Aegon would have him do. And, he didn't miss the way that Valyria slightly tensed, and her shaking hand gripped the arm of the chair.
"Aegon—" But the older prince shushed his younger brother. "No debate, you will be joining me. Valy will just have to give you your gift after." Valyria eyed Aegon. She didn't want him to bring Aemond to some brothel. Aemond wasn't like that.
"Aegon—"
"Oh, look, Ser Criston!" Helaena exclaimed and waved to the Kingsguard knight. Ser Criston, wearing the Kingsguard armor, waved to the royals. Valyria stood by the railing and smiled at the knight.
