☆ CHAPTER EIGHT ☆
{ I can still make the whole place shimmer }
A week later, Valyria was fitted for a dress for her nameday. All of the royal children were. Viserys, knowing of the color preferences of each of the family members, declared that they shall all wear blue.
Valyria shook her head at her reflection in the mirror. The seamstress frowned. "What is it, My Lady?"
"I want sleeves. Something to cover my scar. Let me try that." The female servant helped her into a long midnight blue dress. It was off the shoulder with long sleeves that were encrusted with sapphires. She nodded at her reflection.
"This will do. Thank you." The seamstress smiled. "You are a vision. Shall we pick the jewelry?" Valyria shook her head.
"That is unnecessary. I do not wish to dress to that kind of extravagance." After another hour of making adjustments to the dress, Valyria walked through the halls.
She was wearing a simple dark red dress that covered her front and was backless. It had long sleeves, as did all of her dresses. She had to hide her scar.
She turned a corner and then heard commotion in Aemond's room. The door was partially open, so she quietly slipped inside. Aemond was standing in front of a mirror with a man fitting him for his clothing.
He wore black at the moment, but as he moved, she could see that it was also embedded with sapphires.
"This is good. Make it tighter here." Valyria simply watched as he told the tailor where to make adjustments to the outfit. She smiled at him.
He looked handsome in blue. And, they would be matching. He would just be wearing a darker color, but the sapphires were the same.
"And for your nameday, My Prince? Will you wear green?" Aemond shook his head. "Black." Valyria's eyes widened. Black was her mother's color, and Alicent's family wore green. That's just how it has been for years.
The tailor turned around and spotted Valyria, then bowed. "Princess." Aemond turned and noticed Valyria, who leaned against the wall. He raised a brow.
"Have you already been fitted?" She nodded. "I like the sapphires. They bring out your eye." It had taken her a moment to use the singular form of eye, but she had gotten the hang of it.
He raised his eyebrow, and she chuckled as she walked over slowly. She studied his clothing and nodded. "Tighten here," she said, pointing at his wrists, "and loosen here," she said, pointing to his elbows.
The tailor nodded, "Yes, Princess."
She stood beside the mirror as she looked Aemond up and down. "You look good. Blue suits you." He realized that she was stalling, and wondered why.
