That evening, Valyria walked late into supper. She had been busy researching the dragons and had lost track of time. The doors opened, and the royal family watched the flustered princess.

"Ah, granddaughter. Why are you late?" She sat between Aemond and Aegon as always. "I apologize, Grandsire, I was busy reading the histories." He chuckled.

"So like your Father, you are. Oh," He took out a scroll and held it out, "this is from your Mother." She took it hastily and broke the seal, starting to read.

"MY DEAREST VALYRIA,

I miss you dearly, as do your brothers. I swear by the gods that Jace and Luke have asked me when you are coming home every night. I do not have the heart to tell them that you will not be for quite some time.

I apologize, dear daughter, for leaving you so abruptly with them, but with the loss of your father, I simply had to leave. I am also sorry that I did not allow you to witness the marriage of Daemon and I.

I do have some excellent news for you. Seasmoke, your father's dragon, has returned to us at Dragonstone and is currently unbonded. If you wish, in several years, you may come and claim him.

I have spoken to Father, and he has said that your wedding will take place when you are ten and four years of age. I did try to give you more time, but unfortunately, that is when you are expected to become a woman.

I know you did not want this, but I hope that you will come to love your new position.

Remember, you are a Targaryen, you are a Velaryon, and most of all, you are my daughter.

With much love,

Mother."

Valyria smiled fondly as she tucked the scroll into her dress pocket. Alicent looked up briefly, noticing her happy expression. "Good news, I hope."

"Yes, Your Grace. Good news," She hummed and Aegon noticed her leg bouncing with happiness. That was one of her excited ticks. She had many that gave away her feelings.

Helaena looked up from her meal and sniffed the air, then smiled as she looked at Valyria. "You stink of dragon," She said in a low voice. Alicent and Viserys talked amongst themselves, not interested in the children's conversations.

"I was in the Dragonpit. You knew this," Valyria said with a raised brow. Helaena rolled her eyes. "Do you think me an idiot? You smell like Sunfyre. How did you get so close?"

Valyria said nothing and quietly ate her food. She took her fork, but her hand shook gently. She had become better at managing it, but she would not be able to pen a letter to her Mother.
