46. Night Terrors

Arizona's pov

The day that followed was really difficult. I had a long shift working with Alex and Laura. When I was making my way to the interns locker to find Jo, I overheard some of their conversation.

Leah- ... did you guys hear about Robbins and Grey? I heard they broke up. apparently Robbins cheated and Grey found out when she woke up from her coma. that's why they let her get discharged early.

Stephanie- I heard she slept with Karev and her baby is really his. that's why he is named after him.

Jo- that's bullshit. you shouldn't listen to rumors.

Stephanie- how do you know it's not true?

Jo- I just know... and anyway the baby is named after Grey's sister Lexie. She died in the plane crash.

Stephanie- oh... I also heard she hasn't actually lost her leg.

Jo- oh come on. Do you really believe that? 

Arizona- (clearing her throat) Wilson, with me.

Jo- Dr Robbins... I'm not actually on your service today.

Arizona- What? why not?

Jo- Chief Hunt moved us all around so we are working on different departments.

Arizona- so, which of you is on my service?

Leah- I am, Dr Robbins.

Arizona- well, come on then. we have rounds.

Leah quickly got her things together and rushed to catch up with me as i entered the elevator. I could feel her staring at me. She was clearly wanting to say something to me but kept stopping herself.

Arizona- What is it, Murphy?

Leah- um... i'm sorry if you heard what we were saying before you came in the locker room.

Arizona- I need you to listen to me, okay... whatever it is you and your friends have been saying about mine and Dr Greys business is nothing to do with you. do you understand?

Leah- yes, Dr Robbins...

Arizona- Also, if i hear any of you discussing our business again I will make your time on my service a living hell. Have you ever done a week's worth of nights in the NICU?

Leah- no, I haven't. 

Arizona- Believe me, you don't want to. 

when we arrived at our first patient's room, Alex and Laura were already there waiting. The patient was a 2 year old with a neuroblastoma. we needed to take her down to the OR for surgery as soon as possible. When we opened her up on the table, it was a complete mess. the growth had spread throughout her kidney and she was going into renal failure. She needed a new kidney. After the surgery we sent her up to the PICU, where she would stay until we heard anything from UNOS. later on that day I went down to the cafeteria to grab a snack before heading home, when I overheard the interns talking about Michelle and me again.

Stephanie- ...you're on her service. was there any tension between her and Karev?

Jo- I told you, Steph, Alex is not the father of her kid.

Leah- the only tension I could sense was between her and Barker. Maybe something happened between them...

Arizona(interrupting)- Murphy! What did I say to you earlier?

Leah- umm...

Arizona- come with me... Now Murphy.

We made our way up to the PICU in silence. When we got to our patient she finally spoke up.
