Taehyung's POV :
Am I losing my mind, or does this girl truly possess something that makes me feel calm? My heart maintains its steady rhythm when she's around - I'm no longer terrified of her presence. The way she struggles to hold back her tears when I scold her creates an ache deep in my chest that I've never experienced before. I never cared about anyone's feelings before, or perhaps I should say my heart never stopped racing frantically whenever anyone came near me, so I never had the chance to experience any emotion other than fear, loneliness, or panic.
She never fails to frustrate me with her clumsiness and inexperience, always leading to longer conversations between us than I intend. Yet those round, innocent eyes of hers looking up at me have the power to dissolve my anger completely, making me forget why I was even upset in the first place.
Despite my rudeness and constant commands, her kind soul never stops trying to care for me. She ignores my repeated restrictions about bringing me coffee or lunch. After that spicy food disaster, she insists on bringing my meals, claiming I don't take proper care of myself. When I become lost in my work, she'll appear with a cup of coffee accompanied by sweet strawberry cake, knowing how much I despise the bitter taste of plain coffee.
She tries so desperately hard to learn her job perfectly, but she also studies me - learning my preferences and boundaries so her care won't accidentally hurt me again.
It's been two days since I asked my brothers to stop following me around. I can manage now. I know she won't do anything to harm me, not intentionally at least. I feel safe in her presence. Maybe all our conversations revolve around work or the meals she insists on preparing for me, but somehow all of this puts my restless heart at ease.
For the first time in my life, I feel confident. I don't flinch when she knocks on my door. My hands have stopped trembling when I speak to her. I can maintain eye contact without panicking. I've found something in her eyes that reminds me of what I see in Jimin's - but she's beautiful in a way that takes my breath away.
Author's POV
A gentle knock echoed through Taehyung's office door.
Taehyung: "Come in."
Yun Hee: "Sir... it's already late. Everyone has gone home."
She stepped inside, her voice soft with concern as she noticed the exhaustion etched across his features.
Taehyung: "I'm paying for your overtime. I don't have time for complaints about your work."
A knowing smile spread across her lips. His scolding had lost its sharp edge over her - plus, he'd stopped raising his voice, making his words much more bearable now.
Yun Hee: "I'm not complaining, Sir, but you haven't eaten anything since lunch break. So I was wondering if you're planning to stay longer, because I can order something for you to eat."
Her smile was so bright and lively that it made him shake his head in disbelief. She truly never listened to his restrictions.
Taehyung: "You are something else, really... I'm not hungry, so get out and don't disturb me."
She bowed gracefully without arguing further and left, leaving him puzzled by her unusual compliance.
Taehyung found himself wondering why she didn't argue as usual, but he shrugged off the thought and returned to the file he was reviewing.
Just half an hour later, another knock came at his office door.
Taehyung: "God... what's wrong with you? Let me work, for God's sake!"
