Part 6

Leo's Pov, 

"Where the north wind meets the sea

There's a river full of memory
Sleep, my darling, safe and sound
For in this river all is found

In her waters, deep and true
Lie the answers and a path for you
Dive down deep into her sound
But not too far or you'll be drowned

Yes, she will sing to those who'll hear

And in her song, all magic flows
But can you brave what you most fear?

I sing as I walk over the grounds while night has fallen, I can not sleep and Mother she's laying asleep in the room on her chair I think she just wished to know I would not disappear again and yet here I am at night walking towards the Forbidden Forest. So much has happened, Hermione, Daphne, Dawn and others have been petrified............. grandfather was removed as Headmaster and Hagrid is in Azkaban for something he did not do.... and now with the truth out he can be released again and I heard the Mandrakes are ready so that those who turned to stone can be healed again. 

"Leonidas Black we meet again, we are pleased to see you with no harm." A voice says as hooves move my way and I turn to see Firenze standing there making a sigh leave my lips. "If this is ab-" 

"About the Basilisk you set lose in the Forbidden Forest and last summer it was a tree headed dog that Hagrid and you let lose...... you can bring every creature you do not wish to harm to here Leonidas." He says and I release a sigh what was I supposed to do kill it? "I could not harm it.... it was ordered to do bad things that doesn't mean it's bad himself. J-jus I told him not to harm any... any centaurs. He deserves a chance, we all deserve a second chance." I say with a shake of my head as I look at the Centaur. 

"You're a special wizard Leonidas, you've spent months being taken by a monster and yet when the chance is given to you.... you show mercy and believe in forgiveness even towards the creature that took you." He speaks and I look down towards the forest floor as the cold may breeze is welcomed. 

"We can not let these creatures roam around freely in the Forest, with each passing moon more and more centaurs are calling this forest home." He says and a grown appears on my faze. "W-why are more centaurs appearing? Don't you live in herds to like 50? And centaurs are very territorial it's asking for a war between your kind?" 

"A war will come Leonidas, a war where the centaurs will follow the Lion's Heart. For now I must bid you farewell, we are gladdened to see you are alive and well...... but the Three Headed Dog and Basilisk need to go." He says and I take a deep breath before nodding my head. 

"I-I will uhm figure something out so that they won't roam freely around the forest...... you have my word." I say and the Centaur bows his head before turning back towards the forest and riding into it. Great now I have to figure something out on how to.... to keep them here but make sure everyone is also safe...... the Basilisk serves me now not saying I will send it after people but at the same time as long as I'm alive no one can use it for things like Tom Riddle did. 

Dumbledore's Pov, 

Overlooking the ground as Leo wanders in the distance I soon hear someone move to stand beside me. "He will never be the same." Severus says and I nod my head. "He will never be the same, but change is not always a bad thing Severus."

"You think he needed to be in that.... that chamber for so long? For some change?" He says taking aback by my words. "I do not, I think the road ahead for Leonidas will be a dark one..... one where he might lose touch with the people he loves...... make him feel alone in the world. And yet in those times he'll find comfort in the courage and kindness of his heart. The monster was a basilisk...... hidden in the chamber now it roams the Forbidden Forest." I say and I see Severus his eyes widen even more. 

"T-the forest? But that can't be safe for the students we need to..... to kill it now before it wanders back into the school!" 

"And yet it will obey it's masters commands, one who knows the dangers of the basilisk and also knows that it was a creature who did not have a choice. The Basilisk can not harm a heir of Salazar Slytherin and will obey it's heirs......... with his old master gone now it will obey Leo." I speak as the boy walks into the forest and Severus snaps his head towards the forest. 

"H-he's an heir of Slytherin?" 

"He's the Heir of them all...... the blood of Godric Gryffindor and Helga Hufflepuff runs through the Potter line and that of Salazar Slytherin and Rowena Ravenclaw through that of the Blacks they came together when Leonidas was born." I speak before turning back towards the Potions Teacher. 

"He may look brave, but what happened in that chamber will not go away Severus. It will stay with him and the more he will ignore it the greater it will become....... for now we will give him some time but if signs start to appear we have to help him. For in darkness even one with so much light within them can get lost.... something you should know." I speak before turning around and walking back towards the castle. 

I know my grandson, he's brave, he's kind, he's smart and not afraid to get what he wants. But he does not wish to appear weak, not towards me, not towards his friends and surely not towards Minerva. He'll continue to put his brave face on until it's broken and shattered and even then he will face danger with his head held high and his friends behind him. 

Friends who this year showed they really care about him, they've searched high and low even at night for Leo....Slytherin Students working together with those of Gryffindor. Purebloods from families who stay far away from muggle-borns and 'blood traitors' now working with a muggle-born and a son from a family some may see as traitors. He can bring people together even in his absence and if what the Founders say is true we will need that he will not only have to bring people together but also magical creatures..... I would have told him to send Fluffy and the Basilisk to their homelands but with the upcoming treat it may be wise to keep them around the school....... if Tom gets his power back he will come for the wand and the school..... After Leonidas defeated Tom in the Chamber of Secrets it's loyalties where won by the boy.... he's now the creatures master as for the three headed dog... it always took a liking towards Leonidas they will protect him and those he loves. But for now they can not roam around freely in the Forbidden Forest we will help him set up something and I think I know just the one to help him with that. And maybe them meeting will bring some happiness.... some relief to the boy after this yes. 

Leo's Pov. 

Standing in the forest I let my hand move over the slippery scales of the Basilisks snout as his eyes are closed. "I will find a place just for you...... but for now you can not attack any creatures or beings if you do they may start to hunt you down." I say to the massive serpent with a sigh. 

"I've never felt the grass or dirt underneath my body, never have I felt the light of the sun or the moon on my body like this.... heard the wind blow through the trees..... this is the first time I am out of the castle, I was born there..... and never left it until now. I am forever thankful to you Leonidas Black." The serpent says and a hint of a smile forms on my lips. "I've missed so much of the year, in the chamber it was like the time stopped but it didn't Hermione and Daphne are petrified........ Ginny's life will never be the same. My life will never be the same, h-how can I go on from this?" I ask the snake as I walk through the forest and he moves behind me. 

"I've spend all my life wishing for things like this, but I thought they would be a dream..... something forever out of my grasp. You know what I've realized today?" He asks me and I shrug my shoulders. 

"I have a feeling you're going to tell me." 

"That there is light and freedom at the end of the tunnel."
