The darkness before dawn

I was getting ready for bed when my communicator rang.

"What is it?" I ask, my voice heavy annoyed. I swear if it is another newborn rancor alert, I'll smash the commlink.

"Our sisters want our help with the Witches of the Sun, you wanna come?" one of my brothers answered. The Sol'Adorar clan? Well, this should be interesting. As far as I know, the Nightsisters wouldn't cross the lines and attack them, I wonder what has changed.

"Sure." I agree, partly because I'm really interested in how's that going to go, and partly because I have to, since I swore, I'll help my clan and the Nightsisters with anything they need, even though I don't really associate myself with them anymore.

So, I'll change back to my robes, grab my lightsaber and head out towards the Nightbrother village. Thankfully, it isn't far, and I was able to get there in about twenty minutes. Perfect timing, seeing as the other brothers were just lining up before the village gates.

"Darth Maul, we're so glad that you're joining us at this historical day." the leader of the Nightbrother village, Brother Viscus, greeted me.

"It is my pleasure helping my former clan in any battle, whenever they need me." I reply. It is true, I do enjoy a massacre.

"We set off towards the Clan of Sol'Adorar. The spirits have granted our Mother an insight, that in their little clan reigns chaos as we speak, and it would be foolish of us not to take this great opportunity and finally take what's ours! We will strike when they least expect it, and we will win. Today we witness the end of the Witches of the Sun!" Viscus rallied the warriors and waved his arm forward, everybody following.

The closer we got to the village, the more anguish and death I felt. The Nightsisters must be already there then. So, when we had our destination in sight, all of us started running.

When we reached the borders, hell has broken loose. Rays of light and fire illuminating the dark night and the shadows, casted by the Chern's. Chaos and death at every corner of this forsaken place, feeding me like a four-course meal. Igniting my crimson lightsaber I join the fun, slaying anyone on my sight. I make my way right in the middle of the village, hoping to see someone of a little more challenge, then just some weak peasants.

And before I can even scout my surroundings for anybody valuable, someone creeps up on me from behind, probably thinking I won't see it coming, and their partially correct, I don't see it coming, I feel it coming and turn around quickly, slashing my saber with me, making them step back.

It's a middle-aged male, and even though I can't really see his face clearly, thanks to the darkness that surrounds us, when his fists light up in flames, I can tell he's from the Rud's tribe.

"You monsters! You killed my wife!" he screams, almost breaking down like some kind of toddler. A grieving man? Finally, an opponent worth fighting.

He threw some fire balls at me, which I dodged with ease and took my turn at giving blows. Since he doesn't have a weapon, I decide to have fun with this one, shutting off my lightsaber and hanging it to my belt. Instead, I use the Force, to push him and pull him around, while delivering my hits.

He wasn't having it, and with a deep breath, he unleashed a fire wave, going in every direction around him. I created some sort of Force shield around me, to protect myself and ran towards him once again.

After a while though, I got bored of this, so I grabbed him through the Force and pulled him closer to me, igniting my weapon and piercing him through and through. I deactivated it again and let him fall to the ground.

"I embrace death not in fear and defeat, but in harmony and cherish for the ones that continue their lives thanks to my sacrifice." he stutters his last prayer and dies. Stupid man, for thinking we would leave any survivors, but at least he has a spirit.
