"So, what has Anakin done now?" I say as I approach Obi-Wan at the bridge.
"He has found Count Dooku for us, you should thank him, after we rescue him from the Count." he turned around to face me with that sly smile.
"Oh, well that's just great." I roll my eyes. Not another rescue mission...
"Come on, don't be so droopy. We are at schedule, so hurry up and let's leave, before Dooku realizes Anakin's a distraction." he replied, walking past me, probably to the hangar. I just scoff and join him at his side.
We walk through the ship, but what surprises me, is that we don't turn towards the hangar, but instead we continue on.
"Where are you going?" I raise my eyebrow at him, my questioning gaze meets his.
"Oh, we're not taking a ship this time, it would be too risky. We're flying there solo." he answered as we stopped behind the equipment room. That only deepened my confusion, but before I could ask again, the doors opened and revealed two spacesuits.
"You gotta be kidding me... Your plans are going to kill me one day Obi-Wan." I breathed out, rubbing my temples, rolling over Obi-Wan's plan in my head.
"Don't be silly, I'm pretty sure you're unkillable." he smiled and handed me the suit, before I could complain further.
"That's just not true... The vapors from the geysers on Vanqor are deadly to my kind. One breath and there is no saving me. Beside that though, my kind is immune to any kind of natural poison and sickness though." I pointed out, eyeing the spacesuit warily.
"Well remind me to never take you to Vanqor then." he said, zipping up his suit, then giving me a scolding look when he sees I didn't even start to put on mine. I sighed, put on the suit and we were on our way.
--
"This is Anakin's last known location." I heard Obi-Wan say over the comms as we neared a lone Separatist frigate.
"Alright, let's get to work then." I replied, landing on the ship and going straight to the controls of the escape pod hatch. We exchanged looks when the hatch screeched open, before jumping down and inside the ship.
We tore off the spacesuits hastily, and ran down a hallway leading to a small control center. One of the droids just opened the sliding doors we needed to get through, so we took this chance to run past the operating droid and get through the door before it slam shut.
Soon after, we found ourselves in the detention area, dozens of cells lined the hallway. Thankfully, we had the Force, so it wouldn't take us too long to find Anakin. Especially, when his Force signature always shines like a sun.
"He's somewhere there." I said, pointing to the middle part of the cell row.
"Let's get to it." Obi-Wan said and went to the first door. I passed him and opened the next cell.
At first glance it seemed empty, but I knew better. I entered it, looking around the corners, when I heard a whoosh behind me. Turning around fast, I saw Anakin ready to punch me.
"Oh, it's you." Anakin said, backing up his hand from my face and standing up properly.
"Is this how you thank me for rescuing you, you beat me up?" I shot him a hurt look, before shaking my head in fake disappointment.
"If it was anybody else, I might as well, but seeing it's you, I shall hold back any sarcastic remarks I had prepared. Although, it is kind of difficult without a lightsaber." he said sassily, looking over his manicure.
"You're unbelievable..." I sighed and handed him his lightsaber.
"Oh, you found him, good." Obi-Wan said from the doorway. "Did you manage to locate Dooku before landing in jail?" he asked Anakin.
"Well, I know he's on board. I might have been able to do something about it if I'd had my weapon." Anakin bit back, obviously annoyed with how has been the plan working so far.
"It was important for you to arrive without it so your capture would be convincing." Obi-Wan explained, but Anakin didn't let it go.
"Oh, they were convinced, all right. But how come I'm the one getting caught all the time? It doesn't look good." Anakin complained.
"When you're a Jedi Master, you can make the plan." Obi-Wan said. I looked between them while walking, but said nothing to either of their defenses.
"That's just it. How can I become a Jedi Master if I'm always getting caught?" Anakin pushed.
"At least you a Master... at getting caught." Obi-Wan smiled, his voice full of amusement. Anakin didn't share his amusement though, but decided to let it go for now.
We walked through the ship for a few minutes before entering a room in which center sat a meditating Dooku. I scowled at the sight of him. I really, deeply despise that man.
"Surprise, surprise." Anakin said, before we activated out lightsabers and pointed them at Dooku, who seemed unfazed by our presence so far.
"Obi-Wan Kenobi, I thought I sensed an unpleasant disturbance in the Force. Or perhaps it was..." he said, before opening his eyes and landing them on me. "Ezra. I'm quite surprised to see you still here." his eyes lit up in excitement, his lips turned upright. My frown deepened.
"Hmm, only where would young Skywalker be, if you two weren't always around to rescue him?" he changed looks with the three of us, before we were forced forward slightly when the ship rocked under the sudden attack. Good, Ahsoka is here.
"Your ship is surrounded, Count. Republic troops are boarding as we speak." Anakin informed Dooku, as we took our fighting stances. He's not going to attack, I can feel as much, he is far too calm to do so, he will attempt to flee. But where? We are blocking the only exit.
"I'm quite disappointed, Ezra. Why would you appoint yourself with these Jedi fools." he said, before the stool he sat above suddenly disappeared, and he fell down some sort of tunnel.
"Blast! I should have seen that coming." I cursed, running to the tunnel, Anakin right next to me.
"What are you doing?" Obi-Wan called.
"Following him." we said in sync, turning to Obi-Wan.
"Not that way. We need to cut him off." Obi-Wan said.
"You cut him off. We'll follow him and meet you at the hangar." Anakin gave me a nod and we jumped down the tunnel.
Dooku was just a few meters below us. Dooku then turned to face us, and shot lightning our way. Thankfully Anakin blocked it off in time with his lightsaber. Unfortunately, by this, we lost the sight of him and we were falling towards a divider.
"Watch out!" Anakin called back to me, landing on the slim wall between the two tunnels. I landed just behind him, grabbing his shoulders for support. "Hey, watch it." he warned when he almost fell.
"Sorry, there's not much room here." I bit back, trying to identify the tunnel Dooku went down.
"You take left, I take right?" Anakin proposed, I gave him a nod and we separated. This part of the tunnel wasn't too long and I landed in the hangar in just a few seconds, noticing Dooku's leaving ship and Obi-Wan running inside a second one, destroying a few droids in his way.
I noticed Anakin landing on the other side of the hangar then and we followed after Obi-Wan.
"I thought you were following Dooku." Obi-Wan said, desperately trying to avoid the droid's blasts.
"We did, we followed him here." I said, taking a seat behind Obi-Wan, and Anakin taking the pilot seat. We made it out of the hangar just in time before the doors closed and now to just shoot down Dooku and finally capture him.
