"Mate, apne hame kuch bataya kyun nahin?!! (Mother-in-law, why don't you tell me everything about that decision?!!)"

The girl cleared her throat and had asked the same question repeatedly. She even put her left palm on the left shoulder of her mother-in-law Padma. So you are right in guessing Her as the heroine of our story Shalu or Devi Vatsyala herself.
"Mate!!!!" Shalu whispered softly.
Padma stirred a little bit. Then she had told her gently "Kis bare me?!! (About which decision?!!)"
"Soumya ke dattak lene ki bare me. (About adoption of Soumya, my son.)" Shalu answered her calmly.
"Yeah Bhrata Yutyutsyu ke sidhhant the. Hamara nahin. (This was decision of brother Yutyutsyu. Not mine.)" The firm reply of Padma. Her voice was too stern without any single trace of emotion.

Shalu tilted her pretty head slowly to the face of her mother-in-law who had been still looking at the sky. With love and adoration. She was thinking of her son Vrish. She missed him a lot nowadays. When she was a queen, she had a responsibility. Of a state and it's people. Now she was free. To remind and remember her all sons. Sudama. Chitra. Satya. Bana. Shatru. Dip. Sush. Sen. And mostly Vrish. Her most of the time spent alone now. Padma too was preparing herself for her own end journey.
Shalu looked intently at Padma. She liked her this softhearted mother-in-law. She worshipped her. But this time she had a question. Why did not Padma informed her?!! It was not that she would object!!! She liked the idea of spreading peace!!! If it was the only means to make amend between two rival cousins, Kaurava and Pandava, then be it!!! But she was hurt!!
