"What the fuck?!" Areum shouted, jolting awake and waking Mark up in the process as well.

"What's wrong baby?" Mark asked groggily as he peeked an eye open to look at her staring at her phone with shock

"I just got a text back from the—wait...did you just call me baby?" She asked, slowly to turning to him as she replayed his words in her head. Mark blinked twice with a blank expression, slowly sitting up in the bed and realising he wasn't in dreamland anymore.

"Um...n-no what? Why would I—"

"Whatever, I just got a text back from that clinic!" She said, changing the subject fairly quickly and Mark sighed of relief as he sat up against his bed, pushing his back against the headboard

"The one with the bitchy nurse?" Mark asked, checking if he was still remembering yesterday's information correctly

"Mhm" Areum hummed, reading the text message for the nth time

"They want me to come in for an interview today" she said, furrowing her brows on how quick they had processed her application

"Dude...that's amazing. I thought you said they weren't hiring though?" Mark asked, watching her turn towards him. The corner of her lips turned upwards as she stared at his bare torso, illuminating against the morning sun rays of the summer. Her lower lip caught between her teeth as she slowly raised her eyes to meet his more annoyed ones that rolled so far back making her chuckle.

"She said they weren't but...maybe I'm taking over her job" she said jokingly, yet fully believing it too

"See Mark, lying on your CV does get you a job" she said, raising a brow at him and he shook his head with a lazy smile, still thinking it was a bad decision to do so

"Well it's honestly great experience...you need the practice as well. You suck" Mark said and she scoffed

"I don't suck—well not in this case—"

"Dude!" Mark exclaimed, squeezing his eyes closed at the thought of his best friend ever giving sloppy—it was just too early and he was too sober for that.

"You're right...I need the practice before I get the residency in SNUH—well i hope I get it" she said and he reached a hand over to rub her back comfortingly, watching her mentally prepare for failure already

"Hey, you'll get it." Mark said with a firm nod and she smiled, nodding back

"When are we finding out?" She asked, although she already knew the answer herself

"In a month. So just forget about it and focus on acing this interview" Mark hyped her up and she chuckled, reaching down to the floor to grab her hoodie and tie her hair up to make herself seem a bit more presentable to society.

"Alright, I'm gonna head out" she said, turning to him again and leaning her face closer to his making him back up against the headboard slightly

"Woah—what are y—"

"Well aren't you gonna kiss me goodbye, baby?" She teased and he broke out into a smile with an airy laugh

"Oh, so is this like, gonna be a thing now?" He asked, cocking an eyebrow up at her and she nodded playfully, watching him lean in closer—just a perfect distance before she could bring her hand up to flick his forehead.

"Ah! I should've seen it coming!" Mark shouted with a laugh, rubbing his abused forehead as she giggled like a teenager

"I'll make you a coffee on my way out" she said, hopping off his bed and starting to scour for her socks while he rested back against the headboard

"Hmm, I could get used to this" Mark hummed, watching her through half open eyes until he felt the vibration of his phone alarm, reminding him to go to his own summer job.

"Good luck with the morning wood" she said, putting on her sock before heading towards the bedroom door

"Morning w—" Mark cut his question off his a groan as his cheeks heated up red with embarrassment, looking down at the tent in his sweatpants before he dug his body back into the covers

"See you later, baby" she teased

"Just get out." He mumbled, too embarrassed to even look at her and she chuckled, letting herself out of his apartment. And as promised, she made him a freshly brewed cup of coffee—piping hot since she knew he'd taken an extra few minutes this morning

She outstretched her arms to wake herself up before she started her walk to the local subway. Mark only lived a stop or two away from her but she never walked the extra ten minutes. After seeing the good news of a scheduled interview everything started to seem much better. She swore she could hear the birds sing, the sun was gleaming and the hangover she thought she would be victim to never came around.

Getting this opportunity was close to a miracle for her. The SNUH residency program she had applied for wasn't something that was easy to get into—and from what she heard, staying in it was much harder. So she did what she thought she had to do to prepare, practice. However, no job wanted to take in a med school graduate with no years of residency or zero clinical experience. All she needed to do was lie about one or the other—and she was much better at forging university documents.

All she needed was one employer who was stupid enough to miss the glitchy change of dates on her certificate. And now, she had found one. All she had to do was prove herself in the interview that she could be a good doctor's assistant.
