Shadows of the Heart: A Tale of Timid Love

Poor young heart, cowering in every shadowed nook,

Timid and tremulous, avoiding the sun's hopeful look,

For with its rays comes the chance to bloom,

To nurture dreams, to dispel the gloom.

Scared it is, with every beat, every sigh,

Haunted by past hurts, it can't deny,

Terrified of the vulnerability that love entails,

Wary of opening up, of unfurling its veils.

It remembers the pain, the scars it bore,

The shattered pieces it painstakingly wore,

So it hides, tucked away from affection's gaze,

Wounded and weary, lost in a maze.

Yet deep within, a flicker of hope remains,

A longing to break free from sorrow's chains,

But until it finds the courage to begin anew,

It lingers in the shadows, its fears it can't subdue.
