Alone in the silence, I whisper your name,
Through the window of the soul, I seek your flame,
Almost close enough to feel your touch,
Yet held back by barriers, fear's clutch.
Distance is but a phantom, in our shared history,
Through centuries entwined, in mysteries,
Deep and complex, our stories unfold,
Yet only in my memory, are they told.
Sadness tinges the edges of our shared past,
These memories, fragile, they cannot last,
Fearful of shattering them into shards,
I build a wall, invisible, yet hard.
An impenetrable fortress, soon to rise,
Between us, a barrier, a silent guise,
For fear of losing what we might have been,
I hide behind walls, unseen.
