Like two strangers in a shadowed bed we lie,
Separated by barriers unseen, we sigh,
Feeling the distance between us, a chasm wide,
Though side by side, our souls collide.
Ironic, indeed, how life plays its game,
Some search for truth, while others refrain,
And I, with love by my side, feel lost at sea,
Unable to bridge the gap between you and me.
We hurt each other with silence, with cold stares,
As if fighting for something that was never there,
Blinded by belief in a fantasy, a dream,
Reality stares us down, or so it seems.
Like shadows cast by our bodies in the night,
We cannot escape, try as we might,
Avoiding reality only prolongs the pain,
In a sea of thoughts, we drown, in vain.
So let us face the truth, however harsh it may be,
For a life of illusions leads only to misery,
Let us embrace the reality, however cold,
For only then can our story truly unfold.
