Long but necessary chapter

Y/ns POV

I was now working on the finishing touches for the props of the show and helping other get into costume. I wasn't sure how I got back to my dorm last night but I didn't care. I haven't seen Nathan all day and was worried he wasn't going to show up, but when I heard yelling in the distance I knew he had arrived.

"How do I look!" Hayden comes out in his outfit and asks. "Excellent !" I cheer. Then Dana comes out "what about me?" She asks cheerfully. "Beautiful as always Dana!" I say to her. "I can't wait to see how you look in my design as well as to see how you brought it to life" I tell her. We had decided that the outfit i designed would be the outfit for the death scene.

In the distance I see Nathan and Mr. Keaton arguing. Dana sees my head looking in that direction and gives me a sympathetic look. My phone buzzes.

Dad: hey sweetie I'm here! Break a leg!

Me: thanks dad :)

I smile at my phone.

"Alright ladies and gentleman! Get ready we are starting in 5! Juliet will be doing the opening speech!" Mr. Keaton announces to us. Suddenly I'm nervous, even though I won't be performing I still get nervous before every show.

After a few minutes Juliet goes out and the play begins. I wish Hayden and Dana to break a leg. As the play is going on I'm watching and helping prepare for the following scenes. I've made eye contact with Nathan a few times but every time we always end up looking away. And for a moment I thought I saw him cry.

It was now Act 5 scene 3 when Dana comes running over to Mr. Keaton holding the dress I had designed and boy did it look beautiful. "Keaton it doesn't fit!" Dana panics. "What? What do you mean it doesn't fit? Where's Hayden?" Mr Keaton goes into panic mode as do the rest of us.

"He throwing up! This dress won't fit me what do we do?" Dana shouts in a panic. Mr Keaton grabs the dress and holds it up to each do the girls. As he is doing so he tells Dana to tell Nathan to get into costume. When Mr Keaton gets to me I see a light in his eye that worries me. "Y/n your Juliet for this scene go get dressed quickly!"

"What? I can't- " I say, Mr Keaton grabs my shoulders and says  "y/n you know this play more than anyone else, you're more qualified for this role than I am. You'll be fine it's just one Scene!"

I nervously go get dressed and come back. When I'm back Nathan is already out on stage performing. "Good- gentle ... youth, tempt not a desperate- uh man!" I hear him say nervously.

I hear my que to go play dead. When I step out my stomach drops. I hear Nathan say his lines, "ah, dear Juliet. Why art thou yet so fair? Shall I believe that unsubstantial death is amorous, and that the lean abhorred monster keeps thee here in the dark to be his paramour?" I notice how much more confident he sounds in his lines now than he had before.

He continues, "for fear of that I still will stay with thee and never from this palace of dim night depart again." As he goes on he finally says, "the doors of breath, seal with a righteous kiss. A dateless bargain to engrossing death!"

He kisses me, and I'm surprised as I had completely forgotten about that part. But the kiss only made me miss his lips even more than I already had.

"Here's to my love! Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss...I die" Nathan says as he collapses and fake dies.

The lines between friar Lawrence and Bathasar go quickly and it's my turn.

I 'wake up' and say, "O comfortable Friar where is my lord? I do remember well where I should be, and there I am." I pause then continue, "where is my Romeo?"

"Go, get thee hence, for I will not away" when friar exits I say, "what's here? A cup closed in my true loves hand? Poison, I see, hath been his timeless end." The tears I were crying weren't acting and I think Nathan and I knew that.

"Left no friendly drop to help me after. I will... kiss thy lips. Haply some poison yet doth hang to them. To make me die ... with a restorative." I kiss Nathan.

"Thy lips are warm" I say finally but then continue when watchman says his lines. " yeah, noise? Then I'll be brief. O happy dagger." I pick up the fake dagger on Nathan's body and let my fingers linger a little longer than they should. "This is thy sheath ; there rust and let me die!" I pretend to stab myself and then fall onto Nathan as the curtains close.

When Nathan and I stand up I take the upper hand and kiss him which he deepens. "I'm sorry" I say as we walk off stage. "No- I'm sorry." He tells me. When we get with the rest of the group I see Dana, Hayden, and Victoria looking at the two of us with a smile. "See Nathan I told you I had it handled" Victoria says with a shrug.

"Wait- Hayden were u not actually sick?" Nathan asks . "Dana...don't tell me you made this dress my measurements on purpose?" I say

"Well if I did you have no reason to be mad because now you guys are back together and happy!" Dana says cheerfully.

We all laugh.
