Y/n's pov

When I got back to my room I instantly crashed after the party. Luckily for me I was able to sleep in because my meeting with Andy wasn't until later in the afternoon. When I woke up I had a couple of texts.

Dana: sorry we couldn't have our sleepover, how about tonight?

Me: sure Dana I'll come or ur room at like 9?

Dana: sounds perfect!

Nathan: dinner?

Me: can't meeting with Andy

Nathan: k

Drew: when's graduation?

Me: 4 weeks... I'm so nervous!!

Drew: you'll be ok let's hang soon

I put my phone down and rub my eyes, adjusting to the light coming from the sun. I tiredly get and go to the bathroom immediately to brush my teeth. As I was doing so I thought about Nathan's sweet little promposal last night. He's been so sweet these past few weeks and has been so helpful. Though no one would believe me if I ever told them how truly caring and thoughtful Nathan really is, and I hated that. I wish he were better to others but then again I understand why he isn't.

Right as I was about to walk out of the bathroom Courtney comes in. "Shit-" I say as I back up from the door that almost hit me. "Oops, sorry y/n! I saw heard that Nathan asked you to prom... that's cool. Does that mean you're like a vortex member now?" She asked. "Uh he did ask me, but no it doesn't mean that." I tell her and I leave the bathroom. Did she forget that me and him have been dating for like a year? Minus our couple breaks.

I roll my eyes thinking about it and go back into my room. To use up the time I had to wait I worked on Warren and I's project and it was while I was doing so when something randomly clicked. On my laptop I switched to a different tab and opened up one for Oregon State University. I scrolled through the site for a few moments. I looked at the application process and  for the next few hours I started working on my essay.

I had decided that I was going to study psychology and be a psychologist for those who struggle with addiction  and help people like me and Steph.  I emailed a couple of teachers asking for a letter of recommendation and by the time it was time to get dressed and leave I was done with my application. I still needed a few things before I could submit but I was practically done.

I got up and got dressed and just in time I got a text from Andy saying he was outside in a black car. I left the dorms and headed to the parking lot where I found Andy. I got into the car and we drove to some restaurant. We agreed to have dinner and discuss whatever it is Andy wanted to talked about. The car ride was nice, Andy was middle aged snd very friendly. One of those people that could talk to anyone and anyone could talk to him. That's probably ehy he did the job that he did.

When we arrived at the restaurant we sit at a table order our food and then Andy starts. "Y/n, I've been working with Steph since she was your age, she was 19 when we had our first encounter. I watched her grow up. Over the course of the years Steph had been to many rehabs and none seemed to work. Honestly I wasn't sure if the one in Michigan was going to work, u til you came around. Suddenly she was happier than ever, she was more willing to talk and she even followed the rules and actually wanted to get better. Honestly recently it had seemed like we were more friends rather than counselor and patient, which is a mistake I'll never make again. Because she was so excited to see you and visit this town that I trusted her enough to let her have her own hotel room. I blame my self for what happened..."

"Andy, it's not your fault. As someone who was also like Steph I know that you can't be helped if you don't want it." I assure him. He pulls out a folder, he opens it and hands me a bunch of photos. "These were Steph's photos that she kept and brought with her." 3 of the photos were her and I. There were a lot of photos of Oregon and I could tell she was excited to come. There were even photos of the play that we were going to be doing as well as some of Romeo and Juliet.

"Wow" I say looking at them. "You had such an impact on her. She even talked about moving down here when she was finally able." Andy tells me and at this point we both are teary eyed. "She affected me just as much." I tell him. "There was something I wanted to run past you. Steph didn't have really anybody. We already had a memorial service for her back in Michigan but I think she would, want to be buried here. We could have a simple funeral here, I'm sure she would've liked to meet your friends or family. I know she talked about someone named Nathan and that if he ever screwed up she would and I quote, 'knock his teeth in'" he tells me.

"That's an amazing idea. Steph never ended up getting to meet Nathan..." I say out loud. I hated how Steph didn't have many people who were in her life. We always said that when she got out of rehab and was sober she would here and we would live our best lives and make hundreds of friends and be the happiest we've ever been.

We spent more time reminiscing over different memories we had of Steph and Andy even showed me pictures of her when she were my age. He also said that there were some belongings of Steph's that he thinks she would've liked that I had so he would mail them to me. Andy would be in town for the next few months handling certain affairs. When he dropped me off he told me he would get the funeral service figured out and let me know and to feel free to invite anyone.
