Toxic (rewritten)

Toxic relationships were something that Sophia was no stranger to, her parents relationship was horrific and resulted in her mother's death and her father's arrest. Never in a million years did Sophia think she would find herself in the same situation her mother had been in. Sophia had been in a relationship with Draco Malfoy for two years. It had been amazing but the return of the dark lord had changed Draco.
The normally sweet and caring boyfriend had become short tempered and nasty. She knew he was a death eater and assumed that was the reason for his change in attitude but her brother Theo and best friend Mattheo who was the son of the dark lord were also death eaters but they hadn't changed aside from being a little bit more stressed than usual.
Sophia was in her room crying as she applied more paste to the newest bruises Draco had caused her. He had lost his temper with her after she tried to help him catch up with his school work, he shouted at her saying she was making him look stupid and then he punched her in the stomach multiple times. Now the bruises had started showing she had to hide them even though the chances of anyone seeing them were slim she didn't want to take the risk.
Her brother and Mattheo had been to stressed by the tasks from the dark lord that they hadn't figured out what was going on. Sophia had no idea what any of the boys tasks were but whatever task Draco had it was taking up all his free time and was causing him a lot of stress.
Sophia was now sat in her bed reading a book when Draco came barging in to her room and flopped down on her bed pulling her in to his arms and then fell asleep.
His grip on her was to tight to escape so she was stuck. She was scared of him and wanted free of him. Draco had shown no interest in physical contact with her over the last few months so this sudden interest made her very uneasy. That night she cried herself to sleep and once again was plagued by nightmares. The following morning Draco was back to his foul mood and short temper. She was suddenly woken by Draco shoving her off of him "how many times do I have to tell you to keep your filthy hands off me. Merlin your so stupid. Don't even know why I date you. Get in the shower and clean up you look ugly," he demanded. Scared of his temper she followed his orders and went for a shower.
When she was done she was once again greeted by Draco's short temper with his hand tightly grasping her arm as soon as she re entered the bedroom. "Will you hurry up! Your so slow. I'm hungry get a move on or I'm leaving without you." She quickly threw her hair up and grabbed her things.
Only the way to breakfast Draco wanted to make sure he kept up the image of a loving boyfriend so he held her hand all the way there but what people couldn't see were the nail marks Draco was leaving with how hard he was holding her hand.
When they sat down Sophia put two slices of toast on her plate and some scrambled eggs. Draco leaned over and whispered "are you sure you should eat all that you're already fat enough as it is." His comment stung because she had already been loosing weight because of all the abuse and stress. She ended up having a few bites of her toast and one fork full of eggs before excusing herself to the bathroom. The halls were unusually quiet but she was grateful for it because she was struggling to hold back the tears in her eyes. When she arrived she ran in to one of the stalls and sat there crying. She was there for about ten minutes when she knew she had to leave for class. Just as she was about to open the door she heard voices that belonged to Astoria Greengrass and Pansy Parkinson.
"So spill the beans what was it like was he good." Pansy asked excited for the gossip. "He was amazing best kisser ever and he is so hot as well and he's rich obviously." Both girls chuckled. "Astoria are you forgetting the fact he has a girlfriend." Astoria scoffed in response "ugh that bitch. It's fine Draco said it won't be long before he will be rid of her permanently so he said I just have to be patient." Her ears started to ring and the two girls voices became muffled. She couldn't believe that he was cheating on her. 
She ended up sat there for so long that she never noticed she had entirely missed Potions and Charms.
Her third period was a free period so she spent it in her room hoping to avoid everyone but the peace never lasts and this time was no acception. Draco came barging in her room which scared her so bad she ended up falling off her bed and landing badly on her arm. Draco didn't care, instead he picked her up and pinned her to the wall "who were you with. Go on tell me his name. WHO ARE YOU CHEATING ON ME WITH!" He was pinning her so tightly that she wasnt able to respond until he loosened his grip a little. "I was in the girls bathroom crying. I wasn't with anyone." He slapped her across the face "don't lie to me. Tell me his name now!" he asked in a quiet but very angry voice. "I was in one of the cubicles of the girls bathroom crying because I overheard Pansy and Astoria talking and Astoria said she kissed you and it upset me because I love you. You can use truth serum if you want but I'm telling the truth please Draco please stop hurting me." he slapped her again." I guess I'll just ask them then and they can tell me if there was anyone there or not because I know your lying. You better be in the rest of the classes or else!"
Draco stormed out leaving her there in tears. She didn't attend any of her other lessons. Instead she spent her afternoon writing letters. One for Draco, one for Theo, one for Mattheo and one for her godfather Severus Snape. After she had finished writing the letters she slid them under the boys doors and gave Snapes one to an owl and then found somewhere to hide. In her mind the only way out of the abuse is death but she had to hide until the coast was clear enough that she could end things.
It was now half past nine and she knew there was a search going on around the school for her. She could here her name being called from her hiding spot. Hearing Snapes voice frantically calling for her broke her heart but she saw no way out. She was convinced this was it so once the coast was clear she made her way up to the Astronomy Tower and stood over the railing readying herself. She was about to jump when she heard a familiar voice from behind her. "Well well your just making this easy for me now." it was Draco.
He had his wand pointed at her. "I had a whole plan laid out on how I was going to do it but you've made it easy for me." She was shaking with fesr as she looked in his eyes. They were black, all life behind them was now lost. "What are you talking about Draco why are you doing this." Sophia heard more footsteps and up came Bellatrix, the Carrows, Dolahov, Lucious Malfoy and Fenrir Grayback. "You're a distraction Sophia. It seems a certain son of the dark lord has developed some romantic feelings for you so it has been decided that you must die." Sophia had never noticed that Mattheo had feelings for her. "What happened to you Draco. You used to be so sweet and kind but now your nothing more than a moster." She heard more footsteps and saw Theo, Snape, Dumbledore and McGonagall coming up. Theo wanted to run to his sister but was stopped by Snape. The Professor knew it would only make things worse."I grew up Sophia that's what happened. I don't have time for childish nonsense like love." Sophia did everything she could to avoid looking at Theo knowing she would burst in to tears if she did. "So your task is to kill me, well you've been doing a pretty good job already. All the bruises I'm covered in, all the broken bones I've had to heal, all the weight I've lost from the stress. I'm withering away to nothing because of you and soon I will be nothing. I'll be nothing more than a memory. Theo tell Mattheo I'm sorry." Sophia looked to her godfather who had been caring for the Nott twins since they were ten. "You were always a better father than our real one. Take care of Theo for me, I love you Uncle Sev." She turned her attention to Theo "Live for me Theo. I love you."
With her final words spoken she let go of the railing hearing her brother and Snape scream as she did so. She closed her eyes and let herself fall through the air expecting to meet death when she hit the hard ground below but instead she fell in to someone's arms and realised she was on a broom. She opened eyes to see a pair of brown eyes staring back at her "I promised you when we met in first year that I would always catch you when you fall and I meant it." She held on to Mattheo tightly as he flew them away from the battle going below. "My instructions are to keep you away from the school till it's safe to return. Im sorry you almost died because of me." Sophia placed a gentle kiss on his cheek and smiled at him "it's not your fault that your father is a loveless lunatic. I don't blame you. I should of asked for help when Draco started hurting me but I was scared of him." Mattheo held her closly to him as the two talked everything over listening to the nearby battle raging on. They waited for a couple of hours before an owl arrived telling them to return. Voldemort was dead and Draco was off to Azkaban. When she reunited with Theo it was a high emotion moment and more self blame as Theo hated himself for not seeing the abuse his sister was going through. Unknown to Sophia her brother and Mattheo had been spying on Voldemort alongside Snape. The three of them were cleared of any wrong doing and avoided Azkaban. With peace now falling on the Wizarding World it was time for Sophias life to start a new, safe and happy.
