# Present day, now seventeen #

I'm sat in potions watching Mattheo at the other side of the room laughing and joking with his best friend Pansy Parkinson. Me and Mattheo were best friends from age three until we were fifteen. I don't even really know what happened. He stared avoiding me and ignoring me but I have no idea why. Eventually I gave up trying to get to him and I let him go. It hurts like hell watching him laughing and joking with someone else the way we used to. He's replaced me. My brother Theo is still friends with him but me and Theo don't exactly get on very well. My only friends are Draco Malfoy and Blaise Zabini.
Later that evening I arrived at the great hall for dinner when I saw the only seat available was next to Mattheo so I turned around and left. I have no intention of being that close to him. Sadly that wasn't to last. A few weeks later in defence against the dark arts we were put in to seating plan and I was put next to.. yup you guessed it, Mattheo Riddle. I took my seat next to him but avoided eye contact at all costs. For the first few days there was no conversation between us. Until one day he spoke.
"Sophia are you going to keep ignoring me?" I stayed silent, "Sophia this will be a lot easier if we communicate. If we have to work on something together we can't do it if you won't talk to me" again I stayed silent, he only has himself to blame for this situation. "Fine whatever, if you want to act like a child then so be it."
After that day he started being nasty to me. Making rude comments and just being mean in general. I continued to ignore him though.
It's been a few weeks of this going on and I arrived in class one day to find Pansy sat on his lap and they were making out. I don't know why but I ran. I went straight back to dorm and cried. Why is it bothering me this much? I ended up skipping the rest of my classes that day. For the following two months I avoided him at all costs. The only time I saw him was in defence against the dark arts, I was able avoid the rest of the time. We were in DADA one day when I suddenly felt his hand on my arm. "What happened? Who did this to you?" I quickly pulled my arm out of his grip and rolled my sleeve back down covering my self harm scars.
"Don't act like you care. We both know you don't"
"Of course I care"
"Mattheo if you cared you wouldn't of stopped talking to me for no reason, if you cared you wouldn't have started avoiding me, if you cared you wouldn't of been mean to me and if you really did care, you wouldn't have replaced me." I was in tears as I finished speaking so I got up and left. I didn't care that I was walking out of class.
I went back to my dorm and pulled a letter out of my drawer. I went to Mattheo's dorm and slid it under the door. I then walked off the grounds of Hogwarts and didn't look back.

Mattheo's POV
I didn't realise I had fucked up that bad. I had my reasons for ignoring her but I didn't realise it had upset her this much. After class I went looking for her but had no luck so I went back to my dorm. I found a letter under the door

Dear mattheo,
It breaks my heart to write this but I can't carry on like this any longer. Over the last few years I have been struggling really bad. You broke my heart when you stopped talking to me. All I have ever done is love you. I don't love you as a friend, I'm in love with you I always have been so when you stopped talking to me it broke me completely. Seeing you move on with Pansy plus everything else going on in my life right now is more than I can handle so I'm done. I'm done with Hogwarts, I'm done pretending I don't care. I'm done with life. Even though you hate me i will always love you. My heart will always belong to you.

I rushed to her room and found all her stuff there but no sign of her. I checked the entire school but nothing. The headmaster alerted the ministry who are now searching for her but they have no idea where to look. I had one idea so I decided to try it. I left a note for Theo then headed off school grounds.
I arrived at Daisy's Cove, a place me and Sophia found when we were little. It was our secret place. I searched around but couldn't find her. I sat on the ground next to the river and cried my eyes out.
"Sophia where are you, I'm sorry for everything, I'm sorry I made you feel this way, it's all my fault. I should of told you the truth from the beginning. I love you, I always have. I was to scared to tell you that's why I started ignoring you. Please come back to me. Please." I heard movement behind me and turned to see Sophia covered in blood.
"M...Mattheo... I... love... you...to" She fell to the ground. I grabbed her and pulled in to my arms. She wasn't breathing.
"No no no Sophia please don't leave me please. I need you please..." it was no use she was gone. I sat there holding her lifeless body in my arms for over an hour. I then laid her down on the ground, I lay next to her and pulled her in to my arms. I pointed my wand at my neck and said "Avada Kadavra". I slipped away in to death where I was greeted by a smiling Sophia. We were finally together for all eternity.
