As they entered the apartment, Luna's parents were glued to the television, their attention absorbed by the breaking news report.

"The mall was destroyed today by an unknown cause. The footage of the scene was unclear, with witnesses reporting apparitions in the smoke caused by the explosion. Speculations suggest a super-powered individual may be responsible for this dangerous episode. Stay tuned for further updates," the newsreader announced before Luna's parents promptly switched off the news.

"Superpowers? That's just offensive," Danielle remarked, a frown etching across her face as Luna's parents finally noticed their presence.

"Thank goodness you're back," Luna's mother said, moving to hug Luna. "We know you tend to go to the mall when you're upset. Thank goodness you didn't go this time."

"We did," Luna confessed, prompting a quizzical look from her mother.

"You went to the mall?" Luna's father sought clarification; his tone was filled with concern.

"Yes, and we fought witches," Danielle added, her own parents appearing crestfallen at the mention of witches.

"Don't dismiss Danielle as crazy; she's not. We did see witches, and we fought them with magic. They were responsible for the chaos at the mall," Luna stated matter-of-factly. Her mother stepped back, and her father regarded her with incredulity.

"Luna, dear, magic isn't real. You know that" her father said softly, his tone laced with gentle scepticism.

"But it is real," Danielle interjected, Luna rolling her eyes in exasperation.

"They'll never believe you unless you show them," Luna remarked, extending her hand towards a nearby vase, which promptly levitated into the air. "Can you see?" she asked her parents, who stared in disbelief as the vase floated, only returning to the table when Luna ceased her magic.

"What do you think?" Danielle inquired, turning to Luna's parents, who remained silent for a long moment.

"I still don't believe it," Luna's father said, shaking his head. "But I also don't believe you're playing a prank on us."

"What do you mean?" Luna's frustration bubbled to the surface. "We all saw the vase floating. Why is it so hard to believe me?"

"We saw that, but why would you go through such an elaborate prank?" Luna's mother wondered aloud.

"Elaborate prank? I should be the one asking questions here!" Luna's frustration boiled over into anger as tears welled in her eyes. "You never listen to me. You don't want me to follow my dreams, and now you won't even believe me when I show you that I have magic!"

"Luna, don't speak to your mother that way," her father reprimanded gently.

"Maybe I will when you start listening to me!" Luna continued, her voice cracking with emotion. "You never listen. You don't want me to follow my dreams, and now you won't even believe me when I show you that I have magic!"

"Luna, we're only trying to do what's best for you," her father insisted, concern etched on his face.

"You're only doing what's best for you, not me," Luna shot back before storming off to her room, her sobs echoing through the apartment.

"Luna, wait!" Danielle called after her, but it was too late. Luna had locked herself in her room, leaving Danielle to face her friend's bewildered parents alone.

"Why don't you believe Luna?" Danielle's voice held a trace of annoyance as she turned to face Luna's parents. She couldn't fathom their unsupportive stance or their refusal to acknowledge Luna's newfound abilities.

"Before, it was you saying weird things; now you've passed it on to our daughter," Luna's father accused, pointing a finger at Danielle.

"Weird things? Magic is real, and Luna proved it. Yet you still won't believe her. She just discovered something new about herself, and you're choosing to invalidate her feelings and experiences, hurting her in the process. You need to do better as parents!" Danielle's outburst hung in the air, leaving Luna's parents silent in its wake.

"I'm sorry about that," Danielle murmured, realising she had raised her voice at Luna's parents. "I'll go check on Luna," she said awkwardly, leaving Luna's parents alone as she made her way to Luna's room.

"Luna?" Danielle ventured into Luna's room, finding her friend curled up on her bed, tears staining her pillow.

"Oh, Danielle," Luna sniffled, lifting her head to look at her friend. "They never listen. I'm so tired of it."

"It seems like your parents don't know anything about magic," Danielle remarked gently, offering Luna a sympathetic smile.

"You think?" Luna wiped her tears away, her voice tinged with hope. "Is magic hereditary?" she asked, her curiosity piqued. Danielle nodded

"So that now means it came from you, right? Since my parents don't seem to have magic, Maybe you somehow passed some of your magic to me while we were together," Luna suggested.

"Um, maybe," Danielle replied, with a hint of uncertainty in her tone.

"Anyway, let's not dwell on that. Tell me how you changed your clothes at the mall and grew wings," Luna requested, eager to change the subject.

"That's my fairy form," Danielle explained.

"Can I do that too?" Luna asked, her eyes shining with excitement.

"It requires a lot of concentration, but according to my mother, it's all about focusing on your inner magic to amplify your power. In the process, your form changes," Danielle elaborated.

"Wow, your mom sounds really interesting. Is she strict?" Luna inquired, curious about Danielle's family dynamics.

"She can be, but she's also pretty cool," Danielle replied, a fond smile tugging at her lips.

"Do you have any other funny family members?" Luna pressed on.

"I have a twin brother," Danielle revealed, prompting a gasp of surprise from Luna.

"Really? Like, actual twins?" Luna's eyes widened with curiosity as Danielle nodded in confirmation.

"His name is Daniel, and he's one big goofball." Danielle frowned and folded her arms.

"I don't understand why siblings can't stand each other. I'd love to have one," Luna remarked.

"You're an only child; that's why you're saying that. Get a buffoon like Daniel, and you'll be screaming enough curse words to send you to an etiquette school for 3 months on Eraklyon for behaviour reform." Danielle went on.

"That's ultra-specific. Speaking from experience?" Luna quirked an eyebrow, prompting Danielle to respond with a deadpan expression.

"Yes," Danielle replied simply.

"Well, you're a princess; you shouldn't be cursing," Luna teased, attempting to lighten the mood.

"That's where I met Denise, Daniel's ex-girlfriend, whom I dislike with every fibre of my being," Danielle continued.

"Denise?" Luna echoed, her interest piqued.

"Yes, she planned on marrying my brother to become queen and banishing me from Eraklyon because she saw us talking together. She was strangely possessive; I mean, we are siblings," Danielle explained, her dislike for Denise evident in her tone.

"Yikes!" Luna exclaimed, appalled by Denise's behavior. "They're not still together, are they?"

"No, her family was caught up in some illegal activity, and they were exiled from Eraklyon," Danielle revealed, a hint of satisfaction in her voice.

"How many days do you plan on staying before going back to Eraklyon?" Luna's question hung in the air, the weight of impending separation settling over them.

"Tomorrow, then I leave the day after," Danielle replied, her expression mirroring Luna's melancholy.

"I'll miss you, Danielle," Luna confessed, her voice tinged with sadness.

"I'll miss you too," Danielle replied softly, offering Luna a reassuring smile as they settled into a companionable silence, cherishing the moments they had left together.
