The girls followed the Queen and the attendants to their rooms and they got settled in. After Dinner, they converged in Danielle's room for a while.
"You're home?" Daniel said incredulously from Danielle's phone, his voice crackling through the speaker.
"Yes, Daniel," Danielle replied with a grin. "We arrived today."
"What's going on?" he asked, his curiosity evident. "Why the sudden trip?"
Danielle sighed, glancing at her friends before explaining. "Mother requested special permission for us to come here. She has some important matters to discuss with the Queen of Solaria."
"Important matters?" Daniel echoed. "Like what?"
"Like Luna's origins," Danielle said. "We think she might be the lost princess of Solaria."
There was silence at the other end of the line before he spoke again. "That's huge. How is Luna? Can I speak to her? How come she didn't tell me? I would have personally—"
"Chill out, Loverboy! Luna's fine. We can handle it. Thank you very much," Danielle interrupted with a playful tone.
Luna, who was sitting on the edge of the bed, laughed. "It's true, Daniel. We're handling it pretty well."
Daniel sighed. "I just wish I was there for you, you know."
The girls giggled, giving Luna teasing looks.
"Don't worry, Daniel," Luna said, her voice softening. "Your support means a lot, even from afar."
"Yeah, besides," Artemisia chimed in with a grin, "we're taking good care of her."
"Just be careful, okay?" Daniel said, his concern still evident.
"We will," Danielle reassured him.
"Oh, and the guys say hi," Daniel added, and a chorus of greetings echoed from his end.
"Hi, guys!" they chorused back.
"Luna, take care of yourself so Daniel will stop worrying like an old man," Alistair's voice came through the phone.
The girls laughed, and Luna replied, "Don't worry, Alistair. I'll be fine, and Daniel can stop worrying."
"Good to hear," Alistair said. "We'll be waiting for updates. Take care, everyone."
"Wait, before they go. Is Crystal there?" Caspian's voice came through the phone, filled with urgency and concern. The girls turned to Crystal, who frowned slightly.
"Do you want to speak with him?" Carissa whispered, nudging her gently.
Caspian's voice continued, "I just want to apologize if she's mad. She hasn't been responding to my texts or anything, and I'm worried."
Crystal sighed, "No, I'm not mad," she answered finally, her voice softening. "I just haven't had time to reply."
Relief washed over Caspian's voice. "Thank goodness," he said. "I was really starting to worry. Take care, Crystal. See you soon."
"Yeah," she replied, a small smile tugging at her lips.
"Take care, girls. See you soon," Daniel added before ending the call.
Artemisia broke the silence. "That was unexpected."
Crystal face-planted into one of Danielle's pillows and let out a long groan. Lithia rubbed her shoulder sympathetically. "You handled that pretty well."
"What else should I have done? Thrown a fit and made everyone's night awkward?" Crystal replied sarcastically.
"Well, you can't keep avoiding him forever," Danielle said gently. "You guys can still be friends."
"Yeah, he seemed genuinely worried about you," Luna added. "Don't worry, Crystal. You'll meet plenty of other cute boys," she laughed, trying to lighten the mood.
Crystal lifted her head from the pillow and gave Luna a weak smile. "Thanks, Luna. But how are you feeling about us going to Solaria tomorrow?"
"Honestly, I'm very anxious and I have doubts," Luna admitted. "What will I say to her when I eventually meet her? How will she react to the whole thing? What if she rejects me?"
Artemisia sat down next to Luna and placed a comforting arm around her. "It's natural to feel anxious, but remember, no matter what happens, you won't be facing it alone."
Lithia nodded in agreement. "And from what we've heard, the Queen of Solaria is a kind and understanding person. If there's any chance that you're her daughter, I'm sure she'll be overjoyed."
Carissa added, "Plus, you've got us. We'll be right there with you every step of the way."
Luna took a deep breath, feeling a bit more reassured by her friends' support. "Thanks, everyone. I don't know what I'd do without you all."
Danielle smiled warmly. "That's what friends are for. Now, let's try to get some rest. Tomorrow is going to be a big day."
The girls nodded and started to settle down for the night. As they drifted off to sleep, each were lost in their thoughts about the journey ahead
