Lunch

Azula was fuming when she saw Sokka sitting next to Yue at lunch. Was he stupid?! Was he doing it on purpose?! Why the hell was he sitting with her?! After everything she's told him! What the hell was he doing?!

She got up and walked over to him and Yue.

"Sokka what the hell are you doing?!" She said to him
"Eating lunch" he replied simply
"Yeah but why does it have to be with her?! You couldn't sit with Aang and your sister?!"
"Because I decided to sit with Yue"
"Seriously?! After everything?! You're doing it on purpose at this point"
"She's my friend, you can't decide who I'm friends with"
"What?! I'm not deciding who you're friends with!"
"It seems like it. Aside from Mai and Ty lee, Yue is my only friend that's a girl and you're freaking out about it"
"Because she likes you, oh my god! It's so obvious! And you," she says, turning her attention to Yue, "What did you tell him? You put some idea in his head"
"No I didn't, he's just seeing your real side" Yue says
"My real side?! Sokka what does she mean?!"
"Well sometimes you can be a bit controlling..." Sokka tells her
"What?! Sometimes you can be a bit stupid because she clearly likes you and is trying to break us up and you're falling for it!"
"Azula that isn't true"
"Ugh it is! Whatever, I'm done with this shit. You clearly don't get it and I see who you prioritize in your life"
"Azula that isn't true"
"Shut up, I said I'm done talking to you" she says and walks away.

"Do you think she just broke up with me..." asked Sokka
"Um I don't know... she said she was done but never said it in a break up way"
"Ok good, I hope she didn't break up with me"
"What if it's for the best though? Like I know Azula said I'm trying to break you guys up and it's gonna sound like I'm proving her point here, but I'm not trying to break you guys up... but I think her breaking up with you wouldn't be the worse thing to happen"
"What? How come?"
"Well she was pretty mean to you by yelling and calling you stupid. She also doesn't seem to trust you and with no trust, there's no relationship"
"Why wouldn't she trust me?"
"Well it sucks to say but maybe because you got together with her because you cheated on someone and maybe she's scared you'll do it again to her"
"I guess that could be true... man, I love her so much but I really hate how that's the way we got together. Like it was under the absolute worst circumstances"
"Yeah, it's probably that. But honestly, no matter how you got together, she should trust you 100%"
"I guess..."
"The way she treats you is wrong and then she tried making up excuses for her controlling behaviour and started gaslighting you"
"Maybe, I don't know"
"Sokka I know she's your girlfriend and you love her but you don't have to defend her if she's treating you bad"
"No no, it isn't that. Look, Azula isn't perfect, nobody is. She goes through just as much as anyone else, maybe even more. I need to be patient with her"
"Sokka she isn't a child, the issue isn't how patient you can be with her. Obviously, she isn't perfect but even if she's going through something it doesn't give her an excuse to call you stupid and act controlling"
"I guess that's true"
"And I'm not just saying that because I want you guys to break up, because I don't, I just want you to be happy because you're my friend. You're a very sweet person and I don't like seeing her scream at you for no reason"
"Thanks Yue... I'll think about what you said"
"Think about what?"
"Like maybe more about the way she treats me sometimes and how I should talk to her... I don't want to break up over something like this"
"I get that. But think about it hard. Just because she's your first real love, doesn't mean she's perfect for you. I'm sure she does super nice things for you but sometimes, the bad things can really ruin it all. All I'm saying is, don't only listen to your heart, be smart about it"
"Yeah, I'll see. Thank you, Yue. Even though it's hard to hear, your advice is good"
"No problem at all. Text me if ever something happens"
"Yeah, I will. Hopefully she wants to talk, she said she didn't want to until I take off this bracelet"
"Don't worry, she might want to talk when she gets horny or something"
"Come on, don't say that. She isn't with me just for sex, she's not like that"
"Ok I'm sorry, it was just a joke"
"It's fine... she's a good girlfriend you know. She's done really great stuff for me and is nice. Although, it's true that I guess she can sometimes be short tempered and controlling. I'm going to try talking to her"
"Yeah ok. Actually, there she is right now, heading to the lockers. Go try to speak to her" Yue said, knowing that Azula was still too mad for this conversation to go smoothly. It was perfect.
"Good idea, I'll go" Sokka says and finds Azula in front of their locker.

"Hey Azula" he says as he walks up to her.
Azula doesn't respond to him.
"Come on, don't be like that, talk to me"
"Come on, don't be like that, take off the stupid bracelet" Azula responds, almost mocking him.
"Why do you care so much about it?"
"Why do you? Why do you absolutely refuse to take it off?"
"Because it was a gift, I hate wasting gifts. See, I'm wearing the watch you got me on Christmas" he says, showing her his wrist.
"This is different, it isn't just a gift. Not if it's from her. Sokka I don't know how you don't realize that she likes you"
"I really don't. Look, even if she does, why does it matter? She's not acting on it and if she does I definitely won't do anything"
"I don't care! And she definitely acted on it. She's always around you and touching you, she's making you stupid little bracelets, she's constantly trying to break us up"
"No she isn't"
"Yeah she is! She's putting ideas inside your head about me! Like did you think I decided who your friends are on your own or did she tell you that?"
"Well she might've said something about it but I guess I also think it"
"You guess?! See how I'm right! She's saying all this crap and you're taking it all in! I don't care if you're friends with girls if the girl isn't actively going after you!"
"But she isn't though! I swear last week she told me about some guy in our class she had a crush on"
"That's so bullshit! And you actually believe her! How stupid can you be to keep falling for it?!"
"I'm not falling for anything! And stop calling me stupid, I don't like it!"
"Well stop hanging out with her, I don't like it!"
"That's different! You're asking me to stop being friends with someone and I'm asking you to stop literally insulting me to my face!"
"You're so ridiculous! She wants to be way more than just friends with you and you can't see it!"
"Whatever Azula, just calm down"
"Oh my god can everyone stop telling me to calm down?! I'm trying! Do you not understand that I have a literal mental disorder that makes it hard for me to control my temper?! So no, I can't just calm down! I try my best, but it's hard and people don't get how hard it is! I've had such a shitty week and I don't want to deal with this!"
"But why do you have to take out your bad mood on me?"
"Get out of my face Sokka"
"What did I do?"
"What didn't you do? Go frolic in a fucking field with your best friend and leave me alone. And also, excuse me for taking out my anger on you when you're responsible for most of all that anger"
"Me? Are you serious?"
"Yes! Now go, you shouldn't keep a lady waiting on her own Sokka" Azula says and then walks off.

Sokka didn't try to go after her, he just sat back next to Yue, looking upset.
"How did it go?" Yue asked
"Like absolute shit"
"Aw really?"
"Yeah, I don't think we broke up but sadly I feel it coming..."
"Oh no. Don't worry, I'll be here to talk" Yue said and put a hand on his shoulder and smiled at him.
"Thank you Yue, you're a good friend" he said and smiled back.

Azula didn't attend class the rest of the day. She just called her dad saying she felt sick and went home the rest of the day.
