Unexpected

Sokka and Azula were walking hand in hand back to his house after school.
"I feel like we haven't had a date night in a really long time" Sokka said
"Well yeah cause I'm always grounded so I can never spend time with you"
"Well I'm glad you're finally not grounded so we could spend some time alone together" he said and kissed her.
"Mm yeah. Is your dad home?"
"I don't know. I'm pretty sure he said he was going out... he should've left by now"
"Ah ok then"

They continue walking hand in hand until they reach his house.
"Oh his car is in the driveway... I guess he's here"
"That's ok, you said he was leaving anyways"
"Yeah I'm pretty sure. Let's go go inside"

They walk into his house and Sokka is confused because he sees a pair of shoes that he doesn't recognize near the front door.
"These don't look like anything Katara has... Dad?! You home?!" Sokka calls out and walks into the living room to see Hakoda on the couch with some woman with short brown hair.

"Dad? W-who's this?" He says while being shocked and confused.
"Uh Sokka I can explain..."
"Yeah! Please do!"
"So this is Malina... we've been seeing each other for around 4 months now"
"4 months?! And you didn't tell us anything?!"
"Sokka this is a very complicated situation. Look, I was just about to go out, how about we talk about this when I come back?"
"Fine... but I can't believe this"
"It'll be ok Sokka. We'll get going and we'll talk all together, ok? Bye now" he says as he gets up and leaves with Malina.

"Sokka... are you ok? Azula said to him after seeing what just went downx
"Uh I don't know... like I'm not sure what to think about my dad having a new girlfriend..."
"Look I'm sure it'll all work out fine"
"Yeah but... what about my mom?" Sokka said in a sad tone.
"Aw Sokka im sure he didn't forget about her or stopped loving her" Azula and then put her arm around his shoulder and held him close in.
"I hope he didn't... I bet he's happy, it's just hard to accept you know"
"I bet... how about we watch a movie and cuddle to take your mind off things?"
"That sounds nice", he says and kisses her,"Mm come on, let's sit on the couch"
Azula sits on his couch and he sits next to her. He puts his arm around her waist to hold her close and rests his head on her shoulder.
"Thank you for making me feel better, I love you" he tells her
"Aw I love you too. Besides, you're always the one comforting me so now I was finally able to return the favour"
"Yeah, thank you"
"It's no problem at all. Now come on, let's put on a movie"

They put on a movie and watch it while cuddling the whole time. After the movie Azula had to go. A little after she left, Katara got back home.

"I'm home" she said when she arrived.
"Hi Katara. You won't believe what happened when I got home"
"What happened?"
"Ok so before you freak out, we're all gonna talk about this when dad gets back home, but... I got back here after school with Azula and I saw dad with a woman"
"With a woman?! Who?!"
"I don't know but apparently he's been seeing her for like 4 months now"
"I can't believe him!"
"It's ok though... he said we'll talk about later"

About an hour later, Hakoda comes back with Malina. The both of them sit at the dinner table and Katara and Sokka sit across from them.

"Look kids, I can explain all of this" said Hakoda
"Yeah please do!" Exclaimed Katara
"I will... so basically, Malina and I have been seeing each other for around 4 months now. We met at work and started going out. We wanted to wait a bit before telling you guys"
"How long would you have waited if I didn't walk in on you guys?" Asked Sokka
"Not long, I promise"
"What about mom?!" Said Katara
"I still love your mother very much, I'm not trying to replace her in any way"
"Yeah and I promise I won't ever try to replace your mom or try to act like her" said Malina
"You better not... god I can't believe this dad!" Exclaimed Katara
"It'll be ok Katara, you'll come around"
"But dad are you happy?" Asked Sokka
"Yes, I'm very happy with her"
"Well then I guess that's what matters"
"And what about us Sokka?! What about mom?!" Yelled Katara
"Katara, mom died 5 years ago... it sucks really bad but we have to move on at one point, dad too. I think it's a good thing that he wants to give love another try after mom, it's very brave"
"Thank you Sokka" said Hakoda
"That's so bullshit!"
"I mean not really... she even said she won't try to replace mom or anything. She's here for dad, that's what matters"
"We don't even know anything about her! Like does she have kids or anything?!" Said Katara
"No, I don't have any kids, I actually can't have kids... that's why I was really hoping to get to know you two and be close with you guys since your father talks so much about you two" said Malina
"Dad honestly, it's difficult but as long as you're happy, I'm ok with it" said Sokka
"Thanks Sokka, that means a lot. What about you Katara? You ok?"
".... Just give me some time, ok?"
"Of course, don't worry about it. I'm glad I was able to talk to you guys about this. I love you two"
"We love you too dad"
