I've always hated you

Preparations

As the end of the year was approaching, preparations for the school prom were starting. It was about a month away and the grade 11s couldn't wait.

"So Sokka, did you ask my sister to prom yet?" Asks Zuko to Sokka at lunch.
"What do you mean did I ask her? She's my girlfriend, of course she's my date" Sokka responds.
"No no, she still wants you to ask her"
"What? Why?"
"I don't know, it's a girl thing. I had to officially ask Mai too"
"Really? Well I don't think Azula minds"
"Oh she definitely does, she's been hinting at me to tell you"
"Really? Well then I guess I'll go ask her. Where is she?"
"I saw her by your locker"
"Ok, I'll go now" Sokka says as he gets and then goes to their shared locker to find her.

He sees her putting something away in their locker and decides to surprise her by hugging her from behind.
"Hey" he says and kisses her on the cheek.
"Hey Sokka, what's up?" She says
"I have a question to ask you"
"What?"
"Will you go to prom with me?"
"Oh I'd love to, I'm glad you asked me"
"I can't believe I had to ask you even though you're my girlfriend"
"Of course you still do. It's more romantic that way"
"Sure. Anyways, I'm really excited for prom with you"
"Yeah me too. By the way, I need you to buy a crimson red bowtie"
"Why?"
"Because my dress is that colour and we need to match"
"I already bought a bowtie though"
"Well buy another in crimson. Not scarlet, not burgundy, crimson"
"Got it, crimson red bowtie, I'll buy one when I get the chance"
"Perfect"
"Oh and also, I should get my license in time to be able to drive to your house for pictures and then drive us to the prom"
"Oh yeah that sounds great"
"I can't wait" he says and then kisses her on the cheek and goes back to Zuko.

"Thanks for telling me that, she was waiting for me to ask her"
"Told you so. Mai was also like that, I don't know why"
"Yeah but it's fine, whatever makes her happy. Oh and she also wants me to buy a crimson red bowtie. Like if it's any other shade of red she'll kill me"
"Oh yeah, Mai wanted a black one for me. At least that's way easier to find"
"Yeah true. I'll have my license for the prom so if you want I'll drive to your house, we'll take pictures and then I'll drive all of us there"
"Oh yeah that would be great actually"
"Great, I'm looking for to it"

"Girls, Sokka finally got the hint and asked me to prom" says Azula after joining up with Mai and Ty Lee.
"Oh that's so cute. Even though you're already together it's still cute to get asked to prom" says Ty Lee
"Yeah I hinted at Zuko to ask me too" says Mai
"You guys are so lucky to have dates" says Ty Lee
"It's ok Ty Lee, you don't need a date to have fun"
"That's true, it's still going to be fun"

"Hey Azula, do you wanna go to prom with me?" Says a random guy that walked up to them.
"What? No. Who even are you?" Says Azula
"Aw come on, please?"
"No, go away"
"Why won't you give me a chance?"
"Because I have a boyfriend and I don't know you and you're weird"
"Ugh fine... hey Ty lee, you wanna go to prom with me?"
"What am I? The second option because you got rejected? No way, leave us alone" says Ty Lee.
"Whatever, you guys aren't even all that" he says and walks away.
"Ugh guys are so weird. That's like the third guy that's asked me" says Azula
"Yeah what weirdos. Anyways, let's go join the guys- Oh... Azula look" Ty lee says and points to where Sokka and Zuko are sitting.
"What's Yue doing talking to Sokka?! Like is she dumb or something?" Azula says and then walks up to their table.

"Excuse me, what are you doing?" Azula says to Yue
"I'm just talk to Sokka, it's none of your business" Yue replies.
"It is my business because he's my boyfriend"
"He's not your property, I'm allowed to talk to him"
"Actually no you're not because you've tried to do stuff with him"
"Well you've done the same in the past"
"Yeah but it actually worked out for me, unlike you. Now get away from him"
"No" She says and puts her hand on his shoulder. Sokka quickly brushes it off.
"Yue, if you touch him one more time I'm gonna hit you"
"Oh really? I'd like to see you try"
"Ok stop it, don't get in trouble Azula. Let's just go take a walk" Sokka says and gets up.
"Good idea" she says and grabs his hand and walks away with him while looking back at Yue.

"She's such a bitch. Where does she get off touching you like that?" Azula says
"It's ok, just don't get in trouble please"
"Yeah I'm trying not to for the end of the year. I'm doing much better"
"Yeah you definitely are. I'm happy for you" he says and kisses the side of her head.
"Thank you, I love you"
"I love you more. I can't wait to dance with you and have fun with you at prom"
"Yeah it's only a month away, I'm so excited. You're going to look so handsome in your suit"
"And I'm sure you'll look stunning in your dress"
"Yes and what colour is your bowtie going to be?"
"Ummm"
"Are you serious Sokka?"
"No no, I got it. Crimson red"
"Yes, perfect"
"See, I remembered"
"Yeah it better be in that exact colour"
"It will, don't worry about it"

They continued walking around, both discussing about their prom that was getting closer and closer.
