You Only Live Once

CHAPTER 5

 The last three weeks had passed way better and faster than Mira though they would. When she learned she would be staying with the Lupins for a whole month before going to the Potters for a more permanent stay(until they could find a way to send her back), she felt dread fill her body. How could she live with people she didn't know. Well she did know them but reading about them and actually being around them had a huge difference. While reading her books she didn't have to be anyone, she was just enjoying the story's through someone else's eyes, someone else's life. Now she had to think for herself , and actually live there. Remus' parents, Hope and Lyall were absolute sweethearts , making sure Mira's stay was the best. Remus did the same, he wouldn't live her side for a moment, well unless he had to that is. The foul moon happened to be the day after they arrived back from Hogwarts. She could tell Remus felt uncomfortable. He had told her to stay away from any window and lock her bedroom's door. In fact he told her that it would be best if she slept through the night like nothing was supposed to happen. Hope and Lyall would be gone though, leaving the two teenagers at home alone and Mira's heart couldn't handle leaving Remus entirely on his own that night So she didn't sleep. Instead she stayed awake all night preparing the bandages and potions Hope had left behind so they would be ready once Remus was back. At 6am a wounded and tired Remus walked through the front door, his clothes torn and his eyes half closed. Mira knew of his condition, had read about it but she never imagined it was as bad as what she was seeing. So she rushed to help him the best she could. After that ,Remus felt like he had to be by her side every waking moment. They had become quite close the last three weeks, so with only a week remaining before Mira would go to the Potters ,they were spending together as much time as possible. They would even sleep in the same room, talking until they couldn't keep their eyes open.

"What time is she getting here Remus dear?" Hope asked from the kitchen.

"At six mom!" Remus shouted so she could here him from the inside of the living room.

Mira and Remus were waiting patiently at the Lupin's living room for Lily to arrive. The girl had written to Mira once during those three weeks wanting to know if she was alright, after those weird conversations they had during their last day at Hogwarts. Mira had gotten permission from Dumbledore to tell anyone she thought would be able to keep the secret the truth about her . After all she did know who could be trusted.

The front door knocked at six o'clock exactly, making Hope have a little run towards the door, excited to be having guests. "Hello Lily dear" Hope greeted the red-head girl, giving her a quick hug.
"Hello Ms Lupin. I hope I find you well" the girl replied sweetly.

"With us two in the house? Oh she's having a blast" Remus said going behind his mom giving her kiss.

"Remmy!"

"Lily!"
The two friends hugged each other while Mira took a few steps closer to Hope who hugged the girl's waist , seeing as she was much taller than the older woman. "Lily you must know our Mira"

"Yes, of course."Lily smiled going forward to hug Mira. "I really hope you are well" she told the brunette, her eyes slightly furrowed.

'Obviously she's well Lils, she's around me all day" Remus said proudly earning a chuckle from his mother.
'Alright, alright let's get you three to the kitchen , I've made chocolate cake" Hope said motioning them to follow her

"I'll slice you some apple dear don't worry" she added , looking at Mira.

"The little devil doesn't like chocolate by the way Lily" Remus said narrowing his eyes at the younger girl.

"Oh and you probably already know but our dear Remus right here has adopted a quite unhealthy lifestyle" Mira replied. Remus just widened his eyes at her. "Oh you don't want your mom to know? Sorry" she pouted her lips at him.

"Oh I'm gonna get you for that, you little-"

"Children!" Hope's voice sounded from the kitchen. At her voice the three teenagers walked straight ahead into the kitchen, their heads hand low. "You must excuse them Lily dear, they bicker a lot." she stated firmly. "Apologize to your friend" she them ordered, making Mira and Remus mumble an 'I'm sorry Lily' under their breaths before going to get a seat at the table, where they continued to bicker in whispers.

"I quite enjoy it you know. The bickering. Only ever had my Remus n the house. It gives me a picture of what life would be like if I could have more children" Hope confessed to Lily in a small voice before exiting the kitchen, leaving the three teenagers alone. Lily just smiled looking at the , now calm, friends at the table .

"So now that McGonagall isn't around to sush us..." the red-head took a seat opposite the other two at the table. "I wanna hear everything"
