You Only Live Once

CHAPTER 14

Remus and Lily didn't believe Mira at first. They thought it was just her idea of a bad joke. A really bad joke. Their Mira couldn't go out with Nott. She had promised she would stay away from trouble. They had laughed when she told them. They continued to do so when she told them again and again and again, until Mira became frustrated and practically yelled at them to stop. Remus's expression was one you would find someone having after watching a horror movie. He looked terrified and confused all at once. Lily's mouth went dry when she realised that Mira was, in fact, not being joking. They could not fathom that their precious little Mira was going out with someone in the first place. In their eyes she was much too young , even if they were just one year older than her. After some minutes of silence Lily decided that it was no use trying to make her change her mind. Not allowing her to do something would only make her want to do it more. So when she talked she said something along the lines of 'If you're enjoying yourself then I guess it's fine'. But Remus hadn't still talked.

"You mean to tell me" he had said. "That , that filthy scumbag has...touched and kissed my precious little angel?" he asked , with a horrified voice. Mira tried to calm him down telling him that they had just kissed a few times. It took Remus two hours, some pacing back and forth, his favourite chocolate and a cigarette to finally accept what he had heard. And once he did Mira was glad he had acted just the way she had told Pandora he would. He warned her to be careful and threatened that if he saw a wrinkle on her forehead, meaning that he made her sad for any reason, he wouldn't hesitate to go full on werewolf on him. At the end they both hugged her and warned her once more.

"You make terrible decisions Rosie" Remus shook his head when they reached the end of the stairs from the dorms to the common room.

"She met us and decided to stick around. There were signs from the start Moony" James said from his seat on the couch, throwing a paper at Peter's head.

Mira, once again, noted that James had said, something not insulting towards her , while Sirius wasn't around.

"Marlene?"
"Mira! Hey! What are you doing here?"

"I should be the one who's asking you"

When Mira reached the Slytherin common room she went in search of her friends. It was their last moments together before the holidays so they wanted to spend them all together. What she didn't expect to find was Marlene, trying to sneak out without anyone seeing her and failing miserably. Mira had noticed that Dorcas was in Slytherin and did wonder why Marlene hadn't talked about her yet, but decided not to press the matter. Everything would happen in time.

"Ugh fine I was-"
"I know"

"Great"

"Amazing"

"I'm going ,now"
"Okay"

As soon as Marlene practically run outside Mira couldn't help but smile.

"Mira" Theodore called her name when he reached the bottom of the boys' dormitories stairs . "Let's go for a walk"

Everything on time , indeed.

......

"It'll be weird" Theo said , out of the blue as they were walking through the, now dark, corridors.

"What?"

With a sudden move Mira found herself pressed against a wall inside a very familiar broom closet . Theo had wasted no time in crashing his lips on hers. Mira never complained when that happened. She couldn't.

"Not being able to kiss you whenever I want" he said before taking a deep breath.

"You're not able to do that anyway"

"You know they know, right?" he replied, matter-of-factly, after a small pause. "Dory, Reg, Barty, Evan. They all know. So all the sneaking around...I don't know who it's for"

"Does all of Hogwarts have to know?" Mira questioned in a tone that she didn't recognize. Was it her that had just spoken? She sounded so...irritated. Theo seemed to be taken aback as well, not quite sure how to react. Mira lightly pulled away from him and exited the broom closet, leaving him behind. She started walking slowly and after a short moment Theo was right next to her . They didn't talk and the silence made Mira's skin crawl.

"Are you ashamed or something?" Theodore asked, lighting one of his cigarettes. It was moments like this that being around him made Mira a confused mess. He was asking if she was ashamed of them and casually took a cigarette out of his pocket with a nonchalant expression at the same time.

"No" Mira stated and stopped walking abruptly. They had now reached the ground outside of the castle and December's cold seemed to have woken Mira out of her trance. "Are you?" she couldn't help but ask. Theo slowly blew the smoke out his mouth and threw his cigarette to the ground. He then offered her his hand , which she gracefully took and he guided her back inside the castle.

"I was the one who suggested we don't sneak around, Potter" he reminded. "Besides..." he twirled her around, making her giggle , and she ended up right in front of him. "Who would be ashamed to go out with you?" he took her face into his hands and slowly pecked her lips. And her nose. And her cheek. And soon enough he was kissing her neck, just as slowly as before. He knew exactly how to drive her crazy.

"You're going soft ,Nott" Mira whispered, her eyes closed.

"On the contrary" he just replied with as smirk against her neck.

Quite lost in the moment they didn't hear footsteps approaching them. What they did hear was James' loud gasp before he started shouting.

"NOT MY COUSIN ,NOTT!"

"I think James now knows too" Theo whispered to her, trying not to laugh before he took her hand and they started running away from him.

"DON'T YOU RUN AWAY FROM ME!" was the last thing they heard James shout before they were too far away from him.
