You Only Live Once

CHAPTER 35

"How did you manage to do that to yourself?"
"I slipped"
"You...slipped?"
"You might seen the place but you haven't been to it. It's quite slippery"
"So you managed to use a spell to make yourself speak parsletongue , got all the way down there, found a hidden old diary but you...slipped?"
"Don't be so amused sweetheart."
"What do you want me to do?"
"A thank you Regulus, you were so amazing and brave down there would be a good start"
With just a month left of school and the was outside becoming bigger and greater every passing day , Regulus , Mira and Evan had decided to start collecting the hocruxes they could acquire while being at Hogwarts, the first one being Tom Riddle's diary. Regulus had found a spell which would allow him to speak parsletongue so him and Evan could get I the Chamber of Secrets. Mira , seeing as she didn't have any magic , stayed behind by Evan's request. Thankfully it didn't take them long to find the diary and come back , ending Mira's pacing around the common room. They had all skipped the afternoon classes , claiming they had gotten the stomach bag after sharing a rather weird looking cake at Hogsmeade the previous day. When they got back Evan rushed to his dorm , eager to get ready to go out with his new boy for the week, while Regulus stood at the entrance of the common room , the diary in his hand and a blood running down his forehead. After quickly hiding the diary in Mira's dorm , which she had mostly to herself the past few months, they found themselves on the couch in front of the common room , Mira washing his wound while Regulus whined about it like a baby.
"Evan's become quite the man whore" Regulus commented , thinking about his friend's behaviour the past few months.
"Cut him some slack. Breaking up is no easy thing" Mira chuckled softly, her attention on Regulus' wound which wouldn't stop bleeding. She had a towel drenched in alcohol with which she tried to clean up the wound so it would heal faster.
"Why?" he asked. A question both interesting and terrifying. Because how could he ask why a break up changes a person? And how could she have the same question .
"Because..." she started , pulling back with a sigh and staring at the dancing flames of the fire , looking for the answer. But it didn't take her long to come up with it, she had the answer all along. "Because how do you forget someone who felt like your other half? Someone who stood out in a room full of people?"
"You don't..." he answered honestly. And for the first time, Regulus saw a part of Mira he hadn't before .And it was both beautiful and scary at the same time.
"Have you got someone like that, Reg?" Mira asked making Regulus snap out of his trance and look at her. "Have you got someone that stands out in a room full of people?" she clarified , taking her eyes off of the fire and guiding the back to him. As she sat next to him, the fire's light illuminating on her face , he couldn't help but notice her eyes. Brown. A common colour . And yet it looked different on her. It always had . Eyes that he could only imagine being crinkled because of how much she always smiled . And that smile. Her smile . It was the most intoxicating sight he could think of . He wouldn't admit it out loud bad when things got bad her smile was what he would picture, what he would search for in the room. What he would search for in the room.
"Yes" he finally replied , getting closer to her so he could cup her cheek and caress it softly. Then he slowly run his thumb over her bottom lip, looking at it intensely. "Can you smile for me ,love?" At his request Mira chuckled , putting her hand on his that was resting and her face and stroking her thumb back and forth . "Mira..." their foreheads touched and Mira's breathing got heavier that she would've liked it to. But she couldn't control it. And it only became worse the closer their faces were getting to each other. Their lips were millimetres apart , their eyes closed, their heads and hands touching. It felt like it was just them in the world.
"Bloody hell!" But they weren't.  "That's the last I needed to see today" Theo said , seething, before storming out of the common room . Mira did t even think for a second before she went running after him, shouting his name.  He got into one of the bathrooms and locked himself in a stall. Thankfully it wasn't a busy hour so late at night so Mira could enter without anyone looking at her funny for entering the boys' bathroom.  She heard heavy breathing coming from one from the stalls so she made her way there . This time she thought about it before knocking on the door.
"Teddy" she hesitantly called out his name since the door didn't seem to open anytime soon. "Teddy, please. Tell me what's wrong"
"He made me kill someone, Mira" he replied  almost immediately. His voice sounded like he was sitting down , so the blonde slid down as well, her head against the door. She sighed deeply, closing her eyes before she responded to him.
"You knew he would"
"A woman . A muggle woman. Just because. She had a little boy. A son. He couldn't have been more than five . He was in his room while I -" he stopped himself, unable to finish his sentence. "His father is horrible and now , thanks to me, this boy will have to grow up with him" Mira didn't know what to say. Everything about what she had just said was horrible. Nothing she would tell him would make him feel better. It was simply one of those situations that there was no bright side. Just a dark, sad side. She knew it all too well. "I hate death, darling"
"I know" they stayed silent for a while , bit trying to gather their through to and process everything. "What was her name?" Mira asked out of the blue.
"Rose Aisling" that's when she lost the ground under her feet. It couldn't be.
"I'm so sorry-I...I've got to go" was all she managed to get out before she stood up and run out of the bathroom and straight to the Ravenclaw common room. Once she was outside , she was out of breath, her mind wondering into a million directions.
"Mira?" A voice sounded behind her , taking her back to reality. "Are you okay?" Xenophilious asked , concerned at the sight in front of him.
"Can I come in?"
"Of course"
Once she was inside she immediately went searching for both Evan and Pandora . They were both there and she needed them both. She needed them because they were the only ones that could make everything that happened the past few minutes make sense.
"Mira?" Pandora questioned as soon as she saw her friend. She had never been to the Ravenclaw common room before . That's when Evan appeared as well , having heard Pandora saying Mira's name. Once they were both in front of her she couldn't help but show them his confused she was.
"Guys..."
