You Only Live Once

CHAPTER 48

"Can you even fathom how weird it is for my brother and sister to be dating?"
"Sirius, stop being weird"
"You could've phrased that so differently"
"I want to cut off my ears"
"Yes,Pads. Get your facts straight, they're not dating"
Everyone slowly turned their heads to look at James, just to make sure they had heard him correctly.
"After that sentence...all you had to say was that Ro and Regulus aren't dating?" Remus asked him, seriously worrying for his friend.
"But, Ro said they're still figuring it out, Moony."
"Jamie ,just-just stop talking" Mira interfered before the situation could become any worse.
Mira was officially out of the hospital and ready to live her life for the past week. The war was over and everything needed to be set back into place. A new minister of Magic, trials for the death eaters, imprisonments. Regulus, Evan and Theo were spared after Mira was brought as a witness and proved their innocence with the help of Dumbledore. She was surprised the wizard was so willing to help them but didn't complain one bit. He knew how to manipulate people better than anyone and she really needed to jury to believe her.
So with their names cleared and everything in their life back in order the old Slytherin gang decided to get back together once again. Mira had seen them all separately, mostly while she was in the hospital but hadn't found the time to see them in the past week. Not even Regulus but they did talk. She had introduced the telephone to him at the time they spent together in the hospital and she had gotten Monty to install one in Potter amano as well. Lily loved the idea too so now everyone had a telephone in their house.

Just before meeting with her old friends Mira had gone to James and Lily's house in Godric's Hollow to leave baby Melody with her cousin Harry so she would have company while she was gone. Remus and Sirius had come in as well to spend time with James and Lily after not being able to properly spent time with them for so long.
The doorbell rang and caught everyone's attention, even the babies'. The whole house fell silent, all eyes on Mira.

"Okay...I'm going now" Mira announced , creeped out by the looks the people around her were giving her. She moved to the couch to kiss baby Melody and Harry goodbye promising to be back before they know it. Both of them didn't like seeing her leave, mostly because the last time they saw her leave they didn't see her for a long time.

"Goodbye now" she said , walking to the front door.
Right at the doorstep stood Regulus in his black coat and boots looking at the welcome rug.

"Would it kill you to wear some colour for once?" She asked inspecting his outfit.
"Missed you too, love"he replied with a chuckle, slowly moving his eyes to look at hers. Once their eyes met she couldn't help but smile , a nervous smile. "For some reason I'm nervous ,too" he confessed when he saw her smile like that.

They had gone through so much , they had been so close, they were separated and tortured. And now there they stood, right in front of one another without danger knocking on their door. And they were nervous. It was stupid, really.
"Just kiss already" a voice sounded from inside and Mira quickly turned her head , ready to kill anyone who was eavesdropping. But when she saw everyone, including the babies ,hiding  behind a wall, trying to see what was going on , she couldn't help but smile. A devilish smile. She turned her head back around and raised her eyebrows at Regulus , certain that he would get the hint. Sure enough Regulus understood what she had in my mind and with a swift movement took her head in his hands and crashed their lips together. Mira kissed him back just as hard, making the butterflies in her stomach do a flip. When they disconnected their lips there were several gagging noises coming from behind her but she didn't pay them any mind. Instead she closed the door behind her and moved forward. Regulus put his arm around her shoulders and she leaned her head on his.
"I love you" he said in a sing-song voice.
"I love you, too"

The old Slytherin gang had decided to meet up at a restaurant in a muggle village near Godric's Hollow, so Mira could get back to her baby in no time if needed.
When Regulus and Mira arrived , Theo, Pandora and Evan had already picked a table and already seemed to have gotten out of the nervous state . They were talking and laughing and Mira hadn't seen a more beautiful sight in along time. She was reminded by the time they were sixteen in the Slytherin common room , playing board games without a care in the world. But now they were adults, almost all of them with children , even if they were just twenty. But it felt right .

Pandora was the first who spotted Mira and Regulus and basically started crying at the sight of them together. She was the only one who knew about Regulus' crush on Mira back at school and was more than happy that it all worked out in the end. The blonde rushed and hugged both of them tightly . And then everyone took turns to hug Mira .
"Where have you been, pretty girl?" Evan asked when they were finally seated done at the table.
"At home with my baby" Mira replied with a proud smile on her face.
"Is Reg your baby?" He asked raising his eyebrows at her .
"She meant baby Melody, idiot" Pandora immediately replied, throwing a paper towel at Evan.
"Speaking of babies, how is Luna and Theodore?" Mira asked turning her attention to boy Pandora and an awfully quiet Theo.

"She's thriving, Mira. The smartest baby I know. And I'm not saying it because she's my daughter. She really is wonderful." Pandora was a proud mother and loved her daughter very much . Mira couldn't be happier than Luna would  actually grow up with her mother. But she was much more happier to see her best friend shine like that when she talked about her baby, thinking of how much happier she would be seeing her grow up.
"And Theodore has all his mother's qualities, thank Merlin. Although people do say he's a spitting image of me"
"Hence the name?" Mira asked jokingly.
"Oh well, I guess my father had a hunch" he shrugged his shoulders making everyone laugh. "By the way he's dead" he announced with vague smile on his face.
"Cheers to that, mate!" Regulus raised his glass and no matter how inappropriate it would be on other occasions, everyone else followed.
"I'm so glad we're back together. Let's never split again. Especially now that these too are together. I wouldn't be able to survive" Evan said taking a sip of his wine.
"Oh, hush" Mira playfully hit his arm.
"You know what. Next time we should bring our babies and our partners as well. We're part of each other's life and we will continue to be for a long, long time. So they should know each other" Pandora said and everyone around her nodded because she was right. They had become family and the people that loved should know about family. "Also..." she turned her attention to Regulus with a sweet smile on her face "I would very much like Luna to finally meet her Godfather" everyone's eyes softened at that statement.
"Really?" Regulus asked, just to make sure.
"Really" and as the two friends hugged Mira decided how grateful she was that, that was the last thing she knew. From then on everything would be a surprise.
"Why are you not surprised?" Evan asked Mira, frustrated.
"I already knew it would happen, dimwit"
"What do you mean?" Pandora asked, confused. And as she looked around the table she realised there was something they were hiding.
"So...crazy story"
