You Only Live Once

CHAPTER 24

Mira and Theo were walking around the corridors, before curfew for once. Getting caught by Lily or James every time they met was getting tiring and by then everyone knew of them going out , even if it wasn't official, so there was no reason to hide. It was two weeks before the end of term too, so they didn't really care about wondering eyes around them. Mira couldn't find herself to be able to focus on anything that day because of her fight with Alecto. Their one sided fight. Alecto had gone up to her demanding to know exactly what was going on between Theo and her , claiming that it wasn't right to take him from her too. Mira who neither understood what that meant nor did she have an answer of what the relationship between them was , just stayed silent trying to walk away from Alecto. That's when she started screaming at her face, saying things Mira once again didn't understand. Amycus came shortly after distancing his sister from Mira with a nasty expression. So Mira was now complaining to Theo about the whole ordeal.

"Is that all you have to say?" she bellowed when he had suggested that she was jealous.

"Look Mira. I wouldn't be mad if I were you. Alecto has fancied every last one of us, the girl is desperate" when she didn't respond Theo walked in front of her with a sigh and tilted her head with his finger so she would look at him, something she had refused to do until then. "Does it bother you, darling?"

"What?"
"That we're not...together"

Yes. That's the only answer she wanted to give him. But she couldn't. They were too many things on the line.

"We...can't. I can't " was all she said , looking away from him once more. She didn't want him to see the look in her eyes

"I wouldn't mind it. I mean, it would be nice to be officially...yours. I don't like the way some assholes are looking at you"

"Who's the jealous one now?" Mira inquired ,a smirk growing on her face.

"Can you blame me?" she had expected him to deny it like he always did, so to say she was surprised by his response would be an understatement.

She couldn't think of a response so she kissed him. The only thing she seemed to able to do right . And of course he didn't waste a second kissing her back. If you had told her that being around Theodore Nott would make her feel the way she felt at the moment, a year ago she would have laughed in your face. But now she was enjoying every last bit of her time with him. Because on the quite corners of the Hogwarts corridors she could pretend. Pretend that there was no was coming, pretend that he hadn't gotten that wretched mark on his forearm. Pretend that he was hers. Quite lost in the moment they didn't notice three figures emerging from another corridor. Not until they heard a scowl and sniggers.

"Do I wanna know?" Theo said, directing his question to their three people , without looking at them.

"You two are a rather comical pair" Amycus said with an evil smile. Theo turned to look at him properly , his right hand around Mira's waist.

"I don't understand what you see in her" Alecto sneered , scanning Mira from head to toe with a scowl.

"I wouldn't mind getting a piece of that" Mulciber said , copying Alecto's move but with a much different look on his face.

"Mulciber" Theo warned , holding Mira tighter. He held her as if he would lose her. He held her because he was just as afraid as her, but not for himself. He knew what his fellow Slyterins were capable of , even if she was a Slytherin herself. He wanted to hex them all, punch them all, but he couldn't. So he just held her close.

"I'm just pointing out her beauty Nott. Nothing wrong with that" Mulciber smiled innocently, if that could be called a smile.

"How nice of you" Theo smiled, trying to contain his anger. "Oh look at the time we must go" he said turning on his heels, making Mira do the same . They hadn't managed to walk three steps before one of them spoke again.
