She wasn't having fun at all. Almost haf the time at least. Mia and Monty had been amazing. Mira thought one couldn't find better parents anywhere else. She had anything she needed ,if not more. She couldn't complain one bit. Unfortunately, they were two other occupants in the house. Sirius had started disliking her out of nowhere one week after their first encounter. Mira thought they were getting along quite well, until he woke up one morning and refused to talk to her unless it was to make nasty comments. Of course such behavior was only present when Mia and Monty weren't around. Mira hadn't said anything at first not wanting to cause any unnecessary trouble. She complained to Remus quite a lot though. He had tried talking to them but they wouldn't listen. Yes, they. James had adopted a behavior similar to Sirius', although he would also treat her nice when he wasn't around. It was kinda weird.
"She'll probably be in Slytherin"
Everyone's heads turned to look at Sirius who had said nothing until then.
"Why do you say that Siri?" Marlene asked, voicing everyone's question.
"Well every loser in the book has been to Slytherin"
"Okay, you listen to me Black-"
'Let it go Marlene" Mira put out a hand to stop the blonde who had stood up ready to fight. Everyone's disappointed glares didn't bother Sirius at all as he walked inside the house.
It was just two days before term when Marlene. Lily, Mary, Peter and Remus showed up for some last minute summer fun. Nighttime had finally caught up with them, so they had formed a circle , sitting on the grass outside Potter Manor, discussing the year a of them. Dumbledore had decided that it would be best if Mira attended Hogwarts like every other student. She would be sorted, go through every lesson there was and... she would do magic. Dumbledore had found a way for her to be able to practice magic, inside the grounds of Hogwarts, so no one would suspect a thing. It would be weak, but it would still be magic. Mira was beyond excited to become a Hogwarts student. She had gone with Remus and Mia to get everything she would need, minus a wand. Dumbledore would give her the one she would use.
'Don't listen to him Ro. You'll be in Gryffindor with us, I'm sure."Lily smiled at Mira.
"We'll be in different years Lils, don't forget" Mira reminded. She was quite dissapointed that she couldn't spent her years at Hogwarts with the people she now called friends, but perhaps it was better. She would have to make new ones, something that excited her.
'In cace you are put in Slytherin though Ro, be careful" Marlene warned her.
Everyone's concern was how she would be able to go about her year without someone trying to hex her, in which case there was nothing she could do to defend herself. They would say she was James' cousin, therefore a Potter, a name that many blood-supremacists would call a ' blood traitor's name' making her a target. They had to admit, not one of Dumbledore's brightest ideas.
"I know who to trust Mar, don't worry. And believe me I can stay away when I smell trouble" Mira reassured.
"Well, you're still with us so...not really"
"I said I can, not that I always do" she shrugged innocenlty. Everyone laughed at that.
The rest of the night went smoothly. Everyone laid on the grass under the stars, until loud conversations became whispers and sleep overtook them all. The next morning when everyone had woken up Euphemia had made a huge breakfast for all of them. Soon the friends would be separated, each going back home to get their things ready for the next day. Mira couldn't sleep that night. What would it be like to study at Hogwarts? What house would she be sorted in? Would she finally make friends on her own? Would her current friends stick around? So many questions to which she was unable to give any answers. When the sun was out Mira decided it was no use trying to sleep anymore so she abandoned her bed and started getting ready for her big day. Once she was done she decided to go downstairs,, maybe make breakfast for everyone. What she didn't expect to see was Fleamont , sitting on one of the kitchen's chairs , sipping his coffee, reading the daily prophet.
"What are you doing up so early Ro?" Fleamont asked, looking up from his newspaper.
"Couldn't sleep" she replied shortly. "I thought of making you all breakfast"
"That would be lovely darling ,thank you"
So Mira decided to make something different for them , although familiar to her. She had grown up eating it , her grandma's one was the very best . Thankfully she had gotten the recipe when she was still around. Much to her surprise the kitchen had every last ingredient she needed. After a while everything was ready to be baked, so Mira set a timer and took a seat next to Fleamont on the table.
"Nervous?"
"Very""You're gonna be alright darling, Hogwarts is a place of joy. You should enjoy it"
"I'm just scared I won't do well in my classes. I have lost five years of it"
"So?"Mira just looked at him dumbfounded. What did he mean 'so?'. "They don't really matter this year Ro, plus you'll be here for two years, you don't have to worry about getting a job or anything...just enjoy. Same goes for James and Sirius. Things always work out in the end"
Before Mira could say anything , hurried footsteps could be heard outside the kitchen's door.
"Why did nobody wake me?" Euphemia bellowed with wide eyes fussing about the kitchen.
"Ro made breakfast honey, just sit down and relax"
"You did?" that's when the timer set off.
"And it's ready"
"Oh you're amazing! Has anyone ever told you that?" Euphemia gave her a kiss on her cheek before exiting the kitchen. "I'll go wake the boys"
